Creating suspense is one of the most difficult things to do in the cine, keeping people on the edge of the screen waiting for what will happen is something that only works through some techniques that are not easy to recreate. The pressure of a well-made scene is only well created when you have perfect timing, since the viewer can be overwhelmed by so much pressure, or leaving the scene aside because it got so long that it lost the sense of suspense. Denis Villenueve, one of my favorite directors, knows everything about suspense, creating slow films, but as an incredible timing, which not only get carried away by that but also show an incredible story along with a beautiful photograph.

Crear suspenso es una de las cosas más difíciles de hacer en el cine, mantener a las personas al filo de la pantalla esperando que va a pasar es algo que solo funciona mediante algunas técnicas que no son fáciles de recrear. La presión de una escena bien lograda solo está bien creada cuando tienes un timing perfecto, ya que el espectador puede quedar abrumado por tanta presión, o dejando a un lado la escena porque se alargó tanto que perdió el sentido del suspenso. Denis Villenueve, uno de mis directores favoritos, sabe todo lo referente al suspenso, creando películas lentas, pero como un timing increíble, que no solo se dejan llevar por eso sino que también muestran una historia increíble junto a una hermosa fotografía.

Mi película favorita del director es Blade Runner 2049, pero tiene grandes obras como prisioneros, enemy, arrival, sicario y una de las que se volvió la más impactante a mi parecer: incendies. Una película que cuenta la historia real de una mujer de un país no especificado, proveniente de una familia musulmana cristiana.

The movies has beautiful photography, without a doubt, and incredible performances, but what surprises me the most is how raw it can be. A movie that without fear of "what they will say", shows you scenes that knowing that they are based on real events, will make you think about how bad the human being is. Not satisfied with that, Denis tells us the story in a non-linear way that makes the film more interesting to take, leading us to moments of calm that will make you enjoy photography, to moments of tension that will make you keep your eyes on the film. , to end with sentimental moments that will leave you with your mouth open. Incendies is, without a doubt, a work worthwhile.

La película tiene una fotografía hermosa, sin duda alguna, y unas actuaciones increíbles, pero lo que más me sorprende es lo cruda que puede llegar a ser. Una película que sin miedo al “que dirán”, te muestra escenas que sabiendo que son basadas en hechos reales, te harán pensar en lo mal que está el ser humano. No conforme con eso, Denis nos narra la historia de una forma no lineal que hace la película más interesante de llevar, llevándonos a momentos de calma que te harán disfrutar la fotografía, hasta momentos de tensión que te harán no apartar la mirada de la película, para terminar con momentos sentimentales que te dejarán con la boca abierta. Incendies es, sin lugar a duda, una obra que merece toda la pena.
