Capone (movie)/Capone (pelicula)

Yesterday I saw Capone, a movie that I really wanted but its reception was not entirely good. Capone, as the name of the film tells us, has Al Capone as the protagonist, but he gives it a plot twist when it comes to showing us a completely different Capone from the one we had already been shown. It is a film that shows us a dying Capone in his last year of life, and this for the script is something really smart.

Ayer vi Capone, una película a la que le tenía muchas ganas pero que su recibimiento no fue del todo bueno. Capone, como nos dice el nombre de la película, tiene de protagonista a Al Capone, pero le da una vuelta a la hora de mostrarnos un Capone completamente diferente del que ya se nos había mostrado. Es una película que nos muestra un Capone moribundo en su último año de vida, y esto para el guion es algo realmente inteligente.

Tom Hardy is the principal character in one of his strangest roles, and it's not because Capone himself is strange (which he is, it will always be difficult to recreate such a person), but rather that the script decides to show him almost as a monster more than like a human, who only growls and doesn't understand anything. Something exuberant that often makes others feel sorry, but that occasionally empathizes with you.

La película está protagonizada por Tom Hardy en uno de sus papeles más extraños, y no es porque Capone en si sea extraño (que lo es, siempre será difícil recrear a una persona de ese estilo), sino que el guion decide mostrarlo casi como un monstruo más que como un humano, que solo gruñe y no entiende nada. Algo exuberante que muchas veces da pena ajena, pero que de vez en cuando te causa empatía.

If I say that the film is at least intelligent, it is because I have never seen such a film. I am not going to say that the film is a marvel, since it seems to me a very normal film in terms of the execution, but in terms of its basic idea it is incredibly good, and it makes me think how it is that such a film had never been made (Or at least, how come I had never seen a movie like this).

Si digo que la película es cuando menos inteligente, es porque nunca había visto una película así. No voy a decir que la película es una maravilla, ya que me parece una película muy normal en cuanto a la ejecución, pero en cuento a su idea base es increíblemente buena, y me hace pensar cómo es que nunca se había hecho una película así (o por lo menos, como es que yo nunca había visto una película así).

The film is more like a psychological thriller or a terror movie, since with Capone's mental illness in his last year of life, the film shows how our protagonist fights against his demons, seeing dead children that do not exist or ghosts that they were in his life for one thing or another. With this, the film ends up being very interesting and that already makes it worthwhile, however, as I said before, it does not end up squaring in execution in various parts of the film, but that does not make the film difficult to watch or is considered bad.

La película es más como un thriller psicológico o una película de miedo, ya que con la enfermedad mental que tuvo Capone en su último año de vida, la película muestra como nuestro protagonista lucha contra sus demonios, viendo niños muertos que no existen o fantasmas que estaban en su vida por una u otra cosa. Con esto, la película termina siendo muy interesante y ya eso hace que valga la pena, sin embargo, como dije antes, no termina de cuadrar en ejecución en varias partes de la película, pero eso no hace que la película sea difícil de ver o sea tachada de mala.
