Missing...

in #gedwriting8 years ago

It was an ordinary evening and Melissa, a journalist, was coming home after a hard days work. But today, traffic was busier than normal, because of an accident that took place on Melissa's usual route home. The delay caused her to get home late.

"I'm home, Blits" exclaimed Melissa. Everything seemed normal, all the windows were closed and the curtains drawn, but after walking around, she noticed that her dog, Blits, was missing. Then after supper, she went to the bathroom where she then picked up an awful smell. The smell drove her to push the shower curtain out of the way, where she found something awful...

The drain had been blocked and the bath had flooded, almost as high as the faucet, with old, smelly water that began attracting flies and mosquitoes. Melissa went to fetch the plunger from the garage, but as she neared it, she heard a scratching noise coming from the inside. She picked up the spade that  stood against the wall, then slowly made her way to the door. As she opened the door, Blits came speeding out and went straight for his water. It turns out Melissa had locked Blits up in the garage when she had left for work... or did she?

Melissa unblocked the drain and got ready to jump into the shower. She put her jewelry on the pedestal and got into the shower.

When she got out the shower, Melissa, walking only with her towel wrapped around her went to the pedestal, where she saw her watch had fallen to the ground. As she knelt down to pick up the watch, the curtain caught her attention, and that's when she saw it.

A pair of construction boots stood under the curtain. then she focused her eyes, and saw the faint silhouette of an abnormally massive man. Then she stood up and opened her drawers, and began frantically searching for her gun, but it was nowhere to be found.

"Are you looking for this?" the masked man asked Melissa. She turned towards him, and saw him holding her piece. Scared to the bon, she just stood there looking straight into his dark eyes, speechless. He put the piece down on the counter and said:"I don't want to hurt you." At this, he pulls of his mask and places it next to her gun. The man had a deep scar running down the side of his face, and he had quite a neat beard and hair gelled slickly to the back. He walks up towards Melissa and grabs her arm and utters:"I just want to..." At this Melissa starts screaming hysterically. Luckily this caught the attention of her neighbor, Mr Rowan, who was going on his daily jog. He hears the screaming and jumps over the wall of Melissa's house, and makes his way towards the bedroom window.

He picks up a rock and throws it at the window, shattering it to pieces. The crashing glass alerts the tall man. He looks towards the window and throws Melissa onto  her bed and reaches for the pistol. As Mr Rowan jumps into the room , the tall man fires aimlessly. The first three shots misses Mr Rowan, but the fourth hits him in the left thigh, which slowed him down. From this Melissa could see that the tall man didn't have much experience with a firearm. He goes on firing, but misses the fitness freak, Mr Rowan, as he jumped all over Melissa's bedroom with a wounded leg. The gun had run out of ammo, so Mr Rowan went to take him on, unarmed. Mr Rowan landed a couple of punches, but the scarred man could take a hit, and just one swing of the arm would send Mr Rowan sliding across the bedroom floor.

As the brawl continued, Melissa picked up a shard of glass form the window that was previously shattered, and cut her  right hand, which was a gruesome sight because the blood had started pulsating all over her hand and arm. she sneaked up behind the tall man and put the shard directly into his back, instantly paralyzing him.

He dropped to the ground and mumbled:" What did you do to me?" Mr Rowan jumped upon him and gave him a couple of hooks which knocked him out.

Melissa began feeling light-headed, and glanced toward the arm that was bleeding uncontrollably. Mr Rowan saw the blood all over the floor, and noticed her arm bleeding profusely. All of a sudden Melissa drops to the ground, unconscious...

Mr Rowan rushes to pick her up, an noticed that she had cut her cephalic vein. He takes off his arm band and ties it tightly around hers, to slow the bleeding. He picks her up and rushes her to the hospital, where they then admitted her and saw to her.

At the hospital, Mr Rowan called the cops and sent them to Melissa's house. After waiting for two hours, the doctor came to Mr Rowan and told him that Melissa was going to be just fine."Nothing that a couple of stitches couldn't fix. She'll be discharged later today" the doctor added. So Mr Rowan went home.

After Melissa was discharged, she went to the cops to hear who the intruder was, but they said that there was nobody on her bedroom floor and everything was in place. Now Melissa was heading on her way home, in the middle of the night, to her empty home. When she got there, she noticed the place had been tidied up, and the glass window had been patched up with a couple of black bags.

Was there someone else, aiding the scar-faced man, lurking in her home?
