GDPR vs Blockchain: The data exists and is immutable, but without identifiers

One of the main benefits of blockchain technology is that all data stored on the blockchain cannot be manipulated and tampered with, therefore become a trusted means for data storage. However, recently launched GDPR regulations allow consumers the “right to be forgotten”…

So how can data be forgotten if it is permanent in a blockchain? The key (pun intended) lies within public and private keys, also known as identifiers. By hiding the public and private keys from any personal data, the data becomes anonymous, making blockchain services GDPR compliant.
