Still thinking back fondly on my WARM and SUNNY visit to Tucson last week.

One day we visited a really great public garden called Tohono Chul Park. Check it out here: https://tohonochul.org/

OR just enjoy some of my photos:

An Aloe (sorry, forgot to ID it better than that, but isn't this a beaut?! and it has sprouted some babies!)

Here's a Cutie Pie PinCushion cactus - well, that's not the botanical name but sometimes you have to improvise ;0) :

ANd another crazy cactus I forget the name of. One of my friends I was with is also a gardener but she lives in San Diego, so she was quite familiar with all these plants. Me, I"m just a Zone 6 kinda gal (Northern US)

We also saw some crazy animals ;0) But they were rather tame....

Of course, we have never been known to follow all the rules...

Hope you enjoyed this little stroll around Tohono CHul Garden in Tucson, Arizona. Still kinda chilly here in NJ (well, one day this week it went to 66F....what?! well, I did some pruning of my boxwood) but it's back to 25F.
But lucky me....off to another warm destination tomorrow. I'll report when I get back!!!

THat's it for now. Saturday night and it's time for a bit of wine and cheese please!

Happy Happy Hour....

It's too cold here in the north. Of course I am in Michigan, but to me it is too hot in AZ. I am really leaning towards Virginia. The best of both worlds. Anyways safe travels!

VIrginia is beautiful! love the Shenendoah Valley!

Hi @gardenlady, first of all I like your photos from your visit to tucson it looks like a perfect place to go and relax.
2nd I need some advice and I would like to know if you could help me,
I am planning on making a butterfly garden this year to help them have somewhere to go as we have a shortage.
I have a garden that is well pretty big and need to know what you would do to break it down into manageable sizes.

do you recomend raised beds? or is that just something that has caught on like a trend?

I am however planning to have plants for all the stages of the life of a butterfly, would you recommend doing species only section in the garden? or would you have it all together?

thanks and I am looking forward to your reply.

@artonmysleeve.

these are great questions artonmysleeve! I guess I have a few questions first, like how big of a space do you have for planting. How much sun does it get? Where is the area you want to plant? FOr example, a border garden bed along a fence? or the foundation of your house? ALong a stream? (you get the idea) also, how is your soil? The answer to where you want to plant combined with type of soil you have would help you answer the raised bed question.

I'd love to find out what plants you are considering for butterflies! THis is a great project. YOu know, I"ll be on vacay for a few days coming up and not sure I"ll be able to check in with steemit, so if you repond but don'thear back from me, don't think I"ve disappeared!
