家庭园艺/古哥点名#7 兴趣篇Gardening/Hobby

在国内的时候很少去拈花惹草。到了美国以后，因为有自己的院子，就开始张罗着一些园艺，希望能够把自家院子搞得漂亮有生气一些。

When I was in China, I was not into gardening. But since I got to US and own a yard to myself, I have started to do some gardening, in order to make the yard more pretty and lively.

我们在屋内种了一些肉球植物，看看我们家的“肉肉“长得多么旺盛？ 这对没有很多时间去打理的懒人是最好的一种选择。 只要隔段时间浇点水，保证有阳光就可以了。

We have 3 amazing succulents in the room. Look at how good they are? This plant is really good for people whom don’t have a lot time, it doesn’t request a lot care. Only a little bit of water every couple month, and with enough sunlight, they will explode.

这是我们后院的花。 由于我们家的房是新建的。当时开发商把地垫高4 英尺，用了很多的石头很少的土，所以土质不是很好。 明年年初打算请专业公司来把土壤改善一下，这样希望可以种更多的植物，蔬菜和花朵。

This is the flowers at our back yard. As our home was a new built. The builder raised up the ground by 4 feets, with a lot stones. Quality of the dirt/soil isn’t that good. We plan to hire some professional company to improve soil quality in Spring of next year, we want to plant more next year.

这是我在西雅图后院里的玫瑰花。虽然我们在哪里没住多久就一个夏天，但那正是春花浪漫时节。玫瑰花有不同的颜色，味道非常浓郁，而且花朵好大，刹是好看。花谢了的时候，我舍不得丢掉，就把它们的花瓣收藏起来做了干花。 现在把他们摆在家里和办公室里，也是一道分景。

These are the roses and hydrangea macrophylla at the backyard in our Seattle house. We were there for only one summer, but it was the right timing for flower blossom. There are different types of roses in different colors. Smells really good, and the flower was really big. They were so pretty that when they withered, I didn’t throw them away, instead, I dried them and keep them in our house and offices. They still look beautiful and also smell good.

这是办公室里的一些小株的“肉肉“，也长得非常顽强。这是我们捐款换来的。 又环保，又有意义。

These are some mini succulent plants at the office. They grow very fast and have blossom too. We donated some money to charity in exchange of these plants. It means a lot and is very environmental friendly too.

园艺工作需要花很多时间和精力。 夏天的时候，这里有很多兔子，花栗鼠，松鼠，和小鸟出没。他们经常会把种下去的植物挖起来把根吃掉。 我们用了一些保护的药粉，可是效果不是很明显而且气味又难闻。所以明年可能打算做些围栏。希望这样可以多种点，考虑蔬菜，果树。我们院里有颗大桑葚树，如果能有些蓝梅的话，那是很不错的。 期待着。

Gardening takes a lot work and patient with some plants. There are a lot rabbit, chipmunk, squirrel and birds in the yard in summer. They always try to steal some of the plant roots. We had to use some rabbit /animal scam power to keep them away, but they don’t seem to be very effective and the smell is not welcome too. Maybe we will put up some fens next year as we plan to grow more, maybe some veggies too, and some fruit trees like blueberry. We have a very tall mulberry tree at the backyard, would be nice to have some blueberry too. Look forward to it.
