Visiting the Coffee Farm at Gayo Highland

in #gardening8 years ago (edited)

The mountainous land in the Gayo highlands, own the land worth more gold, fertility has made people in Gayo could plant anything it naturally, some valuable plant species grown and developed into agricultural commodities with export quality.

Yesterday I visited the Gayo highlands to see directly the coffee plants that have high class in the world. Coffee plants in Gayo has a long history, since the Dutch coming to Aceh the coffee is already there, and survived until today. The coffee fruit has a rather large size, produces coffee beans with fragrant smell. Even the coffee there now has been packed with a variety of brands with modern packaging.

Coffee Flowers

Not like other plants, coffee plants did not follow the season, because I look at the garden, there are plants that are already bearing fruit and there is also flowering.

Red Valuable

Coffee fruit are ripe, it will be dark red, the farmers picking one by one coffee fruit that redden and ripe, then they are dried in the sun, until dry, until the color of coffee fruits are black, and then they sell to collectors, to processed and taken to the coffee factories.

Look, a lot of coffee cherries ready for harvest, the quality is good, and not disease. And the use of pesticides is very little in the area of Gayo.

Lands Scramble

There are so many coffee plants, planted by the general public, private gardens, orchards belonging to Companies, even the governments farm owned, all revelers to cultivate coffee in the Gayo highlands, Aceh.

The human population is gradually becoming more common, making people fight for the land of coffee plants, the price of lands in the area of Gayo is now more expensive, but it did not dampen the spirit of coffee farmers to buy it, because the results will be obtained will be worth with the sacrifice.

Aman Cuba

I've spent half a cup coffee, I bring back from there, it has been packed with the brand "Aman Cuba", Pea Berry Coffee. I really enjoyed it.

It's good to see the plants where all our coffee comes from. It's an amazing plant -- with flowers and ripe beans all at the same time. I don't think I have ever seen coffee from Aceh or Gayo for sale where I live.

Thanks @haphazard-hstead, I ever read that the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) in Portland, Oregon Convention Center, the United States, has put Gayo coffee as the most expensive coffee in the world.

Wow! I am not shopping at those expensive stores, so I guess that's why I have not see any for sale! ; )

Sorry for the delay in upvoting. There was a big ice storm that disrupted curation for the @gardening-trail since last Wednesday.
