RE: How to build an aerated compost tea brewer with a 20L bucket

in #gardening7 years ago

I've only ever made non aerated compost tea by simply mixing compost with water in a 1:10 ratio. This is an excellent tutorial on how to make ACT. All the materials are easy to get except I'm not too sure where to get a diffuser. We have a small amount of compost that can be elevated through this process and hope to try it out soon. Excellent pictures, information and presentation. You've earned a follow as I think I can learn a lot from you.

Just mixing with water is more of an extract, it is useful too as it gets all the nutrients and organisms out. But doing aerated compost tea for 24-48hrs also allows the organisms to multiply thanks to the added air and organisms food.

The PVC to build the diffuser can be bought in any hardware shop. You can also use a garden hose, drill holes in it and weigh it down

I kind of mixed up terminologies. The PVC is easy enough to get, I meant I don't know where to get a pump like that. I'm definitely trying this method out if I can figure that out.

Ohh I see.
Check on eBay or a petshop in the aquarium section

And if you cannot find a 5-way fitting you can use a pvc tee and couple of over 90 degrees angle fittings and build a U shaped diffuser
