The Pomato Plant
Have you heard of the Pomato Plant?
Wikipedia says and I quote :
A pomato (sold as TomTato) in a store display.
The pomato (or tomtato, ketchup and chips) is a grafted plant that is produced by grafting together a tomato plant and a potato plant, both of which are members of the Solanaceae (nightshade) family. Cherry tomatoes grow on the vine, while white potatoes grow in the soil from the same plant.
As with all grafts, this plant will not occur in nature and cannot be grown from seed, because the two parts of the plant remain genetically separate, and only rely on each other for nourishment and growth.
Reflection :
In theory, this is efficient use of available land and resource, able to grow two separate crops in the same amount of space. But when you harvest the potato, you kinda kill the tomato plant too right? So kinda need to harvest all of the tomatoes, and then the potatoes..
I'm wondering if we could graph two kinds of fruit together.. like two varieties of tomatoes in the same plant..:

Very interesting. Seeing this for the first time.

yes interesting concept.. you get a variety with strong roots, then you graft the ones on top with nice fruit... then the plant becomes resistant to diseases and bugs.. and the soil is good for years to come.. if planting only one variety, have to do crop rotation or something...
