Veggie Garden Update
Winter hit us hard last week, and the garden is a little messed up, and some things got ruined, BUT we got a new composter for free, from the local authority, and we already ate the big cauliflower :)
Already ate half the broccoli but there is always another generation growing as we LOVE broccoli :)
Parsley and green onion are still growing from last year, and both seem very happy, we use them a lot in almost everything we cook!
And remember this project? (Here is a link to a DIY howto I wrote about it)
It's now crawling with life, there's strawberries, parsley, salary (on top), and the pink-flowering one is basil.
Inside it, at least two toads are living happily as there's always water there :)
Before I go, here are some more happy winter photo's of edible mushrooms, strawberries flowering, aloe vera plant and an update photo of my aquaponic hanging garden with strawberries and lettuce :)
Have a good one!
Simba.
@simba
Looks great, really good to see more and more people growing their own food. I have also started about a year ago, and now I dont have to buy veggies or herbs as my homegrown efforts are starting to flourish. check out my page for my proud moments too.
best of luck
stay blessed...
Yes! and they taste so much better than the ones in the store :) i'm growing my own for years but this year is the biggest grow, almost not buying any veggies from outside :)
That is awesome. Those moushrooms are huge. well done. stay blessed with abundant food blessings :-)
Hehe thanks a lot :)
Very cool! Keep at it. As a kid growing up in Miami, I thought food grew with the plastic wrapping. In my 20's, I learned that there aren't Big Mac seeds.
Hehehehe thanks man thats a good one :)
bro amazing comment really tnx brother
photos are full of life!
so green and sunny - just whar we need when there's cold outside
mushrooms are perfect! just 1 is enough for soup I think-))
do you use any fertilizer for your plants?
or they just love you and grow so fast to make you smile?)
Hehe well I love them and they love me :)
I use compost that I make for fertilizing them, the compost is made of thrown food remains from home, and lots of bad plants that I took out.
ahh I see, my dad used it too!)
and manure is also popular here
Yeah cow shit works, but no need, the plants are happy :)
Looks great, after I'm done studying and settle down, getting a vegetable garden is high up on my priority list. I love cooking and the thought of just going outside of the house to get fresh produce.
Yes! I highly recommend it, its not just the availability of the fresh veggies, its their taste, it is SO much better after not laying in supermarkets and industrial freezers for a month before getting to you :)
