RE: How to plant an apple tree in a container [Gardening]

in #gardening6 years ago (edited)

It's fun growing fruit trees! I have avocado, mango, zapote, guamuchil, and my mulberries just sprouted too. I wrote about how I stratified the seeds. I can't wait until my first potted tree fruits. Looking forward to a bountiful year in my indoor and outdoor gardens.

I have never even heard of zapote and guamuchil. Are these tropical rare fruits?

Indoor I'm trying to sprout a goji berry. Crossing my fingers.

I just wrote about some yearling gojis I have that I sprouted from seeds in raisins. Oops it's actually spelled Sapote (sah-POE-tay) and it's a Mexican fruit with black or white flesh the consistency of pudding. Guamúchil, also known as Pithecellobium dulce, is native to Mexico and Japan but I've eaten it in the Philippines too.

Guamúchil looks very similar to tamarind, growing in pods.

Yes! (Which I also have a tree of that is recovering) Same structure except the pods in guamúchil are soft so you peal the fruit as opposed to the brittle pods on tamarind that can be cracked.
It is a delicious fruit rumored to humorously cause flatulence if consumed in excess.
