Gardening - My slightly less little tomato plant

in #gardening8 years ago

Remember me being happy about my little tomato plant actually growing?

This was it then:

This is the same plant a few weeks later:

It has grown so much! It seems very happy with its spot in the sun. I'm hoping it will continue to stay healthy and will eventually produce tomatoes! I'll keep you updated if/when it does.

I've also cleared up the space around my strawberries and given them some fertilizer, hoping they'll expand themselves a bit more this year. Now I just need to remember to keep getting rid of the weeds!

My little grape plant is also three this year. It hasn't grown any grapes yet. I wonder if we'll get to see some this year.

It's so exciting to eat from my own garden. I always like my berries aswell. I'll show you what I have once they're grown and have some color!

Nothing better than homegrown food!

Good afternoon, @playfulfoodie! We hope you don´t mind that we dare to give you a little recommendation regarding your planting situation. It would be much better if you used pots instead of a regular plastic container. Pots have three essential advantages:

  1. They have a dark coloring which impedes light irradiation.
  2. They have holes at their bottom side which enable water excess to drain off, thus the plants can´t be immersed.
  3. They are made of a special material that is not affected by light and other external influencers. We have some pots that we are using since 15 years so they are extremely durable.

Then your tomatoes will be able to fully enjoy their growing process - and you as well (-:

Ooh, no I don't mind getting your advice at all! Thank you very much :D

I will definitely think of getting some of these pots the next time I'm at a garden shop.

To be honest, I wasn't at all thinking they would grow as much as they did! They were from some free seeds we got while grocery shopping and most of those die before they even grow 1 cm.

You are welcome and we are glad you appreciated the recommendation.
We forgot to mention one more advantage: these pots are very inexpensive. Considering their longevity the price-performance ratio is really excellent.

Best of luck for your further growing experiences!

Well that is also a great advantage! Thank you very much :D

It looks like it's doing really well. I grow my veggies in raised beds but it appears you'll be eating yours first. Nicely done.

I'm actually not that experienced with growing veggies, so this was all I knew to try. I tried to grow some outside last year, but few came up and the ones that did, did not give any veggies (corn). I guess I was too late to plant them...

Nice, I wish you a good and tasty harvest :D

Thank you very much :D

Nice gardening! It has grown well and I look forward to seeing your tomatoes pictures soon!

Thank you! I hope I can show tomato pictures eventually :D

You're welcome! That will be great! :)
