Benefits of Buckwheat.

  • It grows fast.
  • Bees love it. Apparently, they make black honey from it.
  • Its gluten free.
  • It has so much protein in it you can use it as a substitute for meat.
  • It is great for the digestion.
  • It can help reduce blood pressure because it is a good source of magnesium.

What are the proper weather conditions to plant a buckwheat?

It is quite hardy but doesn't like climatic extremes. Grows best in a cool, moist climate but here in Taupo, New Zealand it is hot and dry in the summer yet the plants grow very well. It also grows in most soil conditions which is good as our local soil is mostly pumice and volcanic ash.

Thanks, Very Helpful, I think its kinda impossible to plant it in extremely hot weather as north Africa lol

Maybe you can develop a strain that loves the sun. :) Or grow it under the shade of trees or manmade structures.

without doubt a beautiful photo you got.

Gorgeous. We love buckwheat as a self sowing cover crop. Bees love it too :)

The chickens will eat it too. And so will we. Yum. :)
