Backyard Homesteading Adventure [How Does The Garden Grow?]
Sunlight, rich soil, and water play a huge part in what makes a plant thrive. But then again, there are some plants quite content on neglect and little water.
Evidently my son planted a Jack B Little pumpkin he got around Hallowe'en last year at the edge of the compost pile. Decomposed pumpkin flesh fed the worms and the worms fed the pumpkin and look at that monster! It's bigger than the squash in the bales. Not sure if its a combo of compost/worm castings in addition to being in ground which enables it to thrive.
Speaking of bales, the beans are yellowish-green. All of them are this same shade, and I'm not sure if it's a nitrogen deficiency (which isn't showing up in other plants) or if that's what the foliage is supposed to look like.
On the happier side of the bale, the Indigo Rose is going into flower!
And that's not the only thing... Lemon Cuke doesn't want to be left behind.
The artichoke has grown larger...
As have the corn.
Everything is coming along nicely - especially the pumpkin. Wow! Thanks for sharing a progress report!
