Another "Food Is Free Project" Success Story

in #gardening8 years ago

This summer we advertised in local groups, the fact that we had more food than we needed growing on our land, and to come pick up our extras.  This is how the Food Is Free Project works.  We ended up meeting a lot of amazing folks, and even have forged new friendships.

One of our new friends has come by our house now 3 times, bearing gifts for our family.  How this warms our hearts is unexplainable.  Food...just food bringing people together!  It is such a unifying thing, we all eat.

Last weekend they came by bearing homemade jam, and homemade chocolates.  The jam was made from concord grapes they had picked the weekend before.

The big jar for my husband and I, and the 3 small jars for our 3 sons.  And just look at the chocolate...

And of course I couldn't let them leave without doing a round of our gardens and fresh eggs too.  They keep saying:  "We want to bring you stuff, you don't have to give us anything!" I'm afraid it's becoming a bit of a battle hahaaha  and I almost expect a surprise delivery when we're not home so that they can 'get us'!  Without us being able to 'get them back'.  I'm smiling so much right now just thinking of how awesome it all is...

As you can see, we're all enjoying this a lot.   Especially young Stryder in the photo above.

Thank you for following our journey in the Food Is Free Project.  More updates always coming...

The chocolates are amazing looking.

Yeah, she has real talent hey!

This is so heart-warming Lyndsay! It takes your operation human angel project to a whole new level. Spreading a good dollop of loving nourishment between whole families. If that doesn't feed your soul, nothing will. The action it has spurred speaks volumes. Please don't worry about keeping up the balance with the gifts that are finding their way to you. Thank the people for sharing the fruits of their labour with your family and just keep spreading the abundance around. You could take one of those small jelly jars and give it to someone else...that's love going viral and ultimately becoming part of our human cellular make-up through food. (I know, pretty deep, lol)

It's deep, and I love it because what you said is so true, I never thought about it that way before. I'm constantly amazed how something so simple as food, sharing food, solves so many of our issues, food connects us all, and like you say, human cellular make-up ... two fold! Thanks for such a thought provoking comment @rebeccaryan :)

What you are doing is incredibly valuable Lyndsay. Keep going!
