Hey! Moringa!steemCreated with Sketch.

Hearing about how beneficial moringa is I had to get one. They grow very fast.
This is my experience with growing and harvesting moringa. It's semi tropical here in South Florida so the plant grows nicely. I love it here for that reason. Everything grows like tomorrow...

Since this photo I have topped the tree down to about 2 feet above the ground. It has split into two trunks and the cut has healed like it never happened and is blossoming profusely.

If I don't take the branches on the bottom the leaves turn yellow and fall off anyway. Since it grows so fast I have a constant supply of moringa leaves. It is advised not to consume the seeds. They can cause digestive problems.

The first harvest. Drying in the dehydrator only takes a few hours at 135F. I set it for 4 hours but I don't think it takes even that long.

Running the leaves through the spice mill for a few minutes here's the treasure. Green gold.

The taste is fantastic. I don't mix it with anything. Just take a teaspoon as it is. Very nice.

Next project is a lemon tree.

Nice Moringa . Philippinos call it Malunggay.
Our Moringa is being strange. All it is producing after I cut back the branches last winter is flowers. I've never seen one do that. Maybe after it is done flowering it will put out leaves again. It looks funny. Just a stump with flowers coming out of it.

Whoa. That is strange. When a plant is stressed it will over produce flowers. Maybe save some of the seeds just in case it doesn't pull through? I tried planting the cuttings but they didn't root.

I thought it might be stressed too but it is starting new shoots so I'm pretty hopeful it is fine.

Ours was from a cutting. It was about a 2inch diameter branch from uncles tree. I just kept it in a pot with coconut core for about six months. planted it in the ground in the summer. Its about two years in the ground now.

Here is a picture of it.

Ooh. Hate to say it, but it's not looking good. It needs leaves... Photosynthesis... Like a last gasp to put out some flowers and seeds for perpetuation of the species. Poor baby. I saw a video somewhere that made it look so easy to top the tree and then also root the cuttings. Hmmm. I was lucky the tree did recover from the topping, but the cuttings didn't take. I'll try again in a few months, but just take one branch.

There is new growth coming out. Hope it will be leaves!

Kind of off topic but I found this site which is really helpful to track the activity on my account. Actually anyone's account can be tracked just by putting their steem name in the upper right hand corner and clicking save.. https://www.steemnow.com/

Maybe... That would be great.

I have it at my home and consume it alternate days
Thanks for sharing it

A real treasure that's for sure.

Awesome! The health benefits are undeniable! Glad you got a tree :)

Me too. It was $15 at the local produce stand. I wrote a check but they never cashed it. I asked them about it and the man;s wife said, "He lost the check." I offered to write another one or give them cash, but she wouldn't let me. I think she was mad at him for something. I still feel bad about getting it for free. He must have grown them from seed.

Wow. Maybe you can bring some seeds back to them when it gives :)

I love seeing people interacting with plant life this way. A symbiosis of mutual benefit. What are the benefits of Moringa that you are looking for? I'm very interested in growing plants that I believe to have medicinal benefits for my mind and body. Having that relationship in my life with the vegetable world is very intriguing.

Keep it up! Looking forward to seeing your progress in my feed!

nice thanks for sharing @jiva34
