I was showing you some tiny furry cactus babies yesterday. They were sowed last summer.
Today I was checking on the older ones, how they survived the winter and if there are any flowers buds. They are 2,5 years old now. Some could already bloom.... No buds yet, but they look good and healthy.
I don't know what types exactly they are. I receives a pack of mixed seeds from another cactus geek grower without any names. To experiment and try the sowing method. So they are the first cacti I ever grew from seed! I take it as a huge success!
See those huge thorns?? Pretty impressive. I should probably separate them now, but I am delaying as much as possible... so I don't have to work with those :P. Still very petty cactus!
And this one is currently my favorite :) So cute, so round and with tiny tiny thorns. Plus in winter it got that beautiful, deep colour. Just stunning! And only one like that of the bunch.
This one was growing so tall at first... and then it shrunk to a ball :P Weird one.
This last one I am pretty sure it is some kind of Peanut cactus (Chamacereus). I like those... they grow fast, grow lots of little offshoots that you can easily root and they have huge flowers! I was hoping this one would bloom already. There is still a chance... My older one doesn't have any buds yet neither.
There is a lot more coming up. Some are super tiny babies, some are a bit bigger and already live outside. So amazing to see them grow from a little green bloom when they all look the sale and only later they start to differ... growing different spines, shapes... one grows faster, others slower.
So start sowing peeps!! :D Even if it is just a simple pansy.
