Why do I even try?

It's my sanctuary. My escape. After a day of wrenching on dirty smelly loud cars I can slip into my garden and get back to nature.
But the fruits of my labour are disapearing. My dear strawberry, oh how I wanted to eat you.
Damn you birds thats my food-get your own!

I hope this strawberry gave you a stomach ache before you pooped it out.

Someone has been pecking away at my cherries too. Ugh. I know it looks like maybe some insect did this, but I'm sure it was the birds-plus there used to be quite a few more fruit on the tree. It must have been the birds.

And my peas. They're fine now with a net covering them, but now they're all tangled up. Oh the birds...

If you're a bird and you're reading this than stay out of my garden and stop pooping on my truck.

I used a Samsung Galaxy S6 for all the above photos.

Ah yes, that looks like my fruit the first year or two when my perennial fruits ripen. Yelling and screaming about it always makes me feel better, especially when I tell stories about it later. Always makes a good laugh.

This year I finally had enough strawberries growing, I can actually eat two for ever one the birds eat. If they keep sending out runners, I should get even more next year. I sometimes make little cages around fruit trees and plants that I know birds or squirrels will likely ravage.

This is the second year I've grown gooseberry, and the third year I've grown pumpkin, and never been able to taste the fruit of my labor because of the animals. Also this is the first year my grapevine is producing fruit, so I'll learn how the animals react to finding that.

They even take your pumpkins!
My grapes have never been touched by any critter, this year looks like it will be a bumper crop.

It is the pumpkin blossoms they eat. Very tender and sweet.

How can you fight this?

I could live in a giant cage that birds can't enter. They would probally sit on top and wait for me to be their poop target.

I hate that and i have lost lots of fruit from birds and nets don't always stop it completely.

Hang old CD's in your cherry trees and by your garden. They are cool sun reflectors and birds/deer hate them.

Great idea, I will do that. I'm sure my neighbors will just love it too.

@edthecanadian those pesky birds. At least they won't eat everything.......

Yep, most of my stuff is alright.

you are not alone - I had some insects eat every single lettuce I had. Before they moved on to the next plants. :( But don't give up, try something else and see if they will leave it alone. Happy gardening! :)

All of your lettuce, yowza! My spinach is always left alone.

It’s a never ending battle here as well, with the birds and animals. I have a lot of dear and bears that come through and strip the apple trees in the fall, it’s so annoying.

That would suck to loose all the apples.
