Gourd Life~Gourd Surgery~Episode 1~
Gourd Life: This was the first year that I grew gourds so I wasn't sure what to expect. I did know from reading that we had to wear a mask because of the dust particles from drilling or sanding the gourds. So we decided to do a surgical procedure... Yes, it was time to test and see if some of the gourds were dry enough for crafting. This gourd will be a birdhouse and in the next episode or so we will be making a way to hang it and decorating it by staining and polishing. I have a lot more gourds to craft with... wonder what we will make next???

Right! I'm excited to get to the next steps myself :) I've had a good time growing them they make a beautiful vine and flower. The freeze finally got the vine, but they lasted a long time :)

Well, Thanks :) I think they will, !'ve seen the birdhouses hanging in groups in fields quite a lot. I can't wait to work on it some more :)
What a wonderful laugh you have! I just loved how you both were having so much fun. My parents grew goards, but dad just made them into musical instruments. Birdhouse, hmm, thats just cool.

Well thank-you! I think my giggle box turned over in the beginning and I was pretty much laughing the whole time. It was a lot of fun :) Muscial instruments :) sounds interesting, I am going to have to look up how they look. My dad likes to say "gourd head", I've heard that my whole life in a joking way in different conversations. I seen seeds at the supply store for gourds and on a whim decided to grow them. Never thinking I would have such fun and success with them. Thank-you so much for stopping by!
Dad grew them for years. We were cleaning out the garage and found box of 50. It was a bit random.
Oh how cool :) I may have that many now... I will have to count them. :)

That white hole saw is supposed to have a 1/4 inch drill bit in the middle to act as a guide when you're drilling a hole. There's a drill bit made just for those things.
Yes, he knew that lol, All his other tools were at work so we were improvising. That last uni-bit/step bit worked great though :) You know I didn't know the name of that bit, I had to ask Jamie(husband) lol
