Growing a chilli pepper Bonsai plant-aka Bonchi
Hello people.
I have been growing chilli pepper plants for 5 years now and in December of 2016 I've decided to try something new and this is the result of my work. In 2016 I germinated the seed of a Numex Twighlight chilli pepper plant and later when it got bigger, I transplanted the plant outside in a big container - you want the plant to grow in a big container, so it can get as big and thick as possible before you cut it down. You can also grow your plant in a small pot, but then the resuts of the stems won't be as stunning as by growing the plants in large pots-I reccomend the first option-the big pot option. When you cut your plant, prune the roots, so they can fit into a smaller pot. When you are ready to transplant the plant, I recommend you to transplant your plant into some cheap, regular pot and later repot it in a nice bonsai pot.
More than a half of a plant is already cut down:
Before and after i cut the whole plant down:
For now it looks really bad, but if you put it somewhere where it gets a lot of sun, it should start to grow new leaves in a couple of days.
And this is the same plant, two and a half months after it was cut down. It needs a lot more leaves and should get there in the next year.
Important things to know:
1.Provide as much light as you can-light is the key for a new vigorous growth,
2.Grow a plant in a large pot at first,
3.Provide some extra light near the bottom stem for a few weeks before you cut the plant,
4.Plant your plants in some smaller pots and repot them into bonsai pots when you are sure they survived the process,
5.If you are afraid of cutting too much at once, you can cut the plant a little by little,
6.Cut off spindly branches without leaves and keep pruning the plant more that what you would think-it will grow back and get thicker and thicker foliage,
7.Don't forget to add some fertilizer to feed your plant. You can get a lot more information about growing bonsai chilli peppers here:https://www.fatalii.net/Growing_chile_peppers/Bonchi

Does it still produce chilis? It's so cute!
I think it will, it just needs a couple of months to recover and produce peppers.
Awesome!
I've seen and grown a lot of different trees as bonsai but this is by far the most initiative plant to use. Well done.
