Various PLANTS from BRISBANE GARDENS.
Evening steemers,
Just a quick post today to share some plants I get to work along-side from a variety of different gardens here in Brisbane, Australia. Theses are mainly located on the North Side of Brisbane where the people are much friendlier :-)
Citrus sp starting to ripen, edibles are almost a rarity in our work gardens but are part of my pasion so I jump at the chance to care for them.
Cinnamomum camphora (Camphor laurel) is a beautiful tree and produces some great timber, however it is a declared weed here in Queensland. I am forever pulling out seedling from clients gardens. The trees can reach 20-30m tall if left to grow.
Adenium sp. is a common and easy to care for plant in our area, makes a great bonsai and will produce flowers most of the year.
Harpullia pendula (Tulipwood) starting to fruit. A very hardy Australian Native that is commonly used as a roadside tree, one of the more sensible tree the council has chosen. The Brisbane City Council has made some very questionable decisions when it comes to street plantings!
The leaves of the beautiful Backhousia citriodora (Lemon Myrtle) smell amazing when crushed and can be used in many medicinal ways including the famous Lemon Myrtle Tea. Another great Australian Native.
Finally Gardenia augusta 'Radicans' is a "go to" ground cover for many landscapers in Queensland. It can be tricky to grow if adequate drainage is not present.
Thanks for stopping in and reading you steemy steemers :-)
Happy gardening,
Sam.
Looking good for autumn!
