Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, QLD, AUSTRALIA.

Evening steemers,
Today I take you to the beautiful Botanic Gardens nestled in the city centre of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. This place is a genuine Botanical Library and is rather spread out compared to the Mt. Coot-tha Botanic Gardens I will do a post on in the near future. I hope you enjoy this little sneak peak into a vital organ of Brisbane's City!......

I wasn't joking when I said these gardens are smack bang in the middle of the city

The gardens are set to the east side of the city and have the mighty Brisbane River running around their perimeter. This place has a great great atmosphere, there was even a small market operating with stalls selling everything from fresh produce to clothing from Nepal and Thailand.

It is winter here in Brisbane so there are not a great deal of flowers happening at the moment but there are a couple of plants and flowers that stood out to me. The first that caught my attention were these HUGE Hibiscus Flowers......

These flowers are seriously BIGGER than my hands!!

And a heap of different colours to choose from :-)

If you visit for yourself you will find way more colours than these but these are my favourites

Working in the Horticulture industry myself I love wandering these landscapes in search of inspiration for my own gardens. One thing ALL Botanic gardens I have visited have in common is water features, something I also like to incorporate into gardens I look after.

This Botanic gardens was no exception to the water feature rule

My favourite tree of the day would have to be the HUGE nearly 200 year-old Agathus robusta (Kauri Pine) Tree that was seriously too big to get a photo of. A very lose second place was this much smaller Brachychiton rupestris (QLD Narrow Leaf Bottle Tree.)

Such an odd looking Tree to those that aren't familiar with it

Thanks for stopping in again my steemy friends and stay tuned for the Mt. Coot-tha edition of Brisbane Botanic Gardens.
Happy gardening,
Sam.
