The "Compost Connection"

in #gardening7 years ago

Besides fresh eggs, chickens also provide us with a great deal of compost for the garden and trees. Half of our barn has a dirt floor covered with straw and chicken droppings.

Once a year, we scrape the straw to the side and dig into the black gold underneath. It's hard work, but the result is a natural fertilizer better than anything found in the store.

The tractor makes the job a lot easier.

From the apple and plum trees, the ornamental shrubs, the raspberry and blackberry bushes, the bush cherry, peach tree, young blueberry bushes, and of course, the vegetable garden which we will show in another video.
