Update on Plants - Not Good
You may recall a blog post from two weeks ago where my son Jacob and I painted a flower pot and then planted some tomatoes, jalapenos and flowers for mom, just because we love her (and dad wanted some jalapeños 😇).
Well, I am sad to report that our plants have not done well, and I am not sure why!

As you can see, the tomatoes and flowers are struggling, while the jalapenos are still holding on. We did have some cooler weather for about a week here in California, so perhaps that is the reason our plants are struggling. It has heated up considerably, so perhaps there is still a chance to save them.
One thing I did notice – and I could use some advice here – is that I did water them mid-day a couple of times and then put them directly in the sunlight. The plants seemed to do worse from the quick sun exposure right after watering. Is that common? Should we water first, let it soak for a bit, and then give them the sunlight? How often should I be watering these plants?
I was hoping to have some jalapenos for Cinco De Mayo celebrations, so I still am hopeful we can get this turned around!

Wish I had some advice. I am terrible with plants as well. Anything I plant always ends up dying. I can never figure out how much or how little to water them.

Of all the things I don't know much about, I don't know a lot about plant care! I wish I could help. I hope you get those Cinco de Mayo jalapeños!
That's a big issue. I usually water the plants early in the morning or very late in the evening. Because if you water them during the biggest heat the water will evaporate. About the tomatos-be careful you don't make the leaves wet. If you do that and the sun come they can be burned by it or even start rusting.
Yes, there's a kind of plants that are shady plants. Can't deal with too much sun exposure.
There are different kinds that need different amount of sunlight.
I always water them in the evening when the sun is gone, otherwise the water will burn the plant and it will die! I hope they will survive, I'm not that of a plant expert(they always die)
I would transplant them all into much larger containers, those containers look small, it may be that they simply don't hold enough water to get the plants through a day in the hot California sun. Plant them in much larger containers, make sure those containers have good drainage so you don't overwater them, and water them in the mornings.

As a new comer, I need your support. Plants are affected by climate and soil texture. That may be one of the reasons it didn't survive.
I do not know much about plants, but when I was very young I had a small garden in the patio of my house. It irrigated plants and eliminated weeds.
