Overwintering My Pepper Plants
Pictured above is the largest of the scorpion pepper plants I was given for free by the greenhouse I shop at, at the end of Spring. It grew large, even crowded among many other plants, at my mistake, and provided a decent bounty of peppers.. so I want to do better.
Most pepper plants die in the cold.
To prepare the plant for overwinter, I carefully dug up around the plants root ball and pulled it out of the ground it was planted.. shook off some of the excess dirt, prunes the foolish back to just a few little suckers, and then put it in one of these cleaned containers with fresh potting soil. Simple.
I will move this inside for the cold season and hopefully I can keep her alive until I can replant in the dirt when it’s warm again and get amazing results next grow season.
I repeated this process for three other pepper plants. Two bell pepper, and a jalapeño plant.
If I can manage to keep them alive, next years harvest will be early, and plentiful!
Looking into purchasing a nice grow light. Lots of ideas for time lapses and videos.
Yer i'm bringing my chilli's and keeping them warm over the winter months ready for an abundant summer 💯 🐒
