Green Little Fingers. Teaching My Kids How To Grow From Seeds.
I am a big believer in teaching the young ones how to grow, not only for entertainment but for the future.
We have started late in the season but we chose some seeds that can be sewed around now so they flower for summer.
Every year we have grown sunflowers but last year with the move we never got to planting so today was a good day to get the seeds in a pot.
My youngest daughter likes to help out in the garden and is always wanting to spend time with me so this was a great way to show her how to plant seeds in a pot.
She listened very carefully and carried out the instructions that I had given her, she did everything I asked and only made a little mess, But making a mess is part of the fun :D
We started by putting some high quality compost in to some seed trays and watering it.
Then we placed a nice size half inch hole in the soil with our fingers
We bought some seeds from a garden centre and emptied them onto the floor to see how many we had.
The packet said we would get 20 approx and there was only 17 seeds, we had ten pots so some we put two in the rest only one seed.
Once we covered the seeds with a little bit of compost we watered again.
These are now in my greenhouse and in a few days we will see if they start to sprout, my little girl is so excited about it.
I am doing a experiment with these as 5 I am going to water with water and the other 5 I am going to use @papa-peppers nettle ferts. I used the ferts last year on my grass and it grew like I was using miracle grow.
I want to see what the size difference is with the homemade ferts compared to just water, we will see as time goes on. I can of know what the outcome will be.
We went on to sow more seeds, foxgloves, lavender, butterfly weed and even some others that I can't remember what they are called, haha.
I do know one thing though, the seeds I have chosen are the ones that bring pollentors to the garden, which means I will be seeing more butterflies, which is the whole goal of this garden that I am working on.
I hope you are all keeping well.
Good on you!
If my family and even my school had not shown me the miracle of taking something so small as a seed and caring for it could create something amazing, I may have never found my love of gardening.
Teaching your children to grow is such a noble thing to do in a world full of chaos. Mother nature and the universe will reward you greatly.
Take care, friend.

The Brew City Gardener
Why thank you, @brewcitygardener, It's a enjoyable pastime and I love it too, I had an allotment many years ago and the food was so much tastier than the stuff we buy from a supermarket.
I do think that they should teach it in schools better than they do, my little lass loves to dig in the garden and I think that it is healthier than sat indoors playing computer games and watching tv.
I hope to see some growth in the garden then I will post the progress that I have made, hope you keep an eye out for them to come.
thanks for the lovely comment :D

@pennsif my dear friend, thank you for selecting this post, I really appreciate it. I hope your keeping well my friend. :D
You are welcome.
Any progress on getting the takeaway yet?
Just a waiting game at the minute, the one we had our eye on went to someone else as they put an offer in before us and it was a higher offer.
The ones around here at the moment are overpriced and have been run into the ground, the last thing we want to do is take on something that can't be turned around.
One guy was trying to sell us his takeaway and he wanted £12000 for it, we went to view and it was a dump, half the equipment didn't work and he had a food hygiene rating of one.
When we asked him what his turnover was per month. he was lucky if he took the money to break even. sometimes he had to pay out of pocket to pay bills.
this is something that we can't afford to take on, we would rather have one that we have started from scratch.
When we find on I will be blogging about it on here for all to see. I hope it goes really really well. I really do :D
