Great Gardenias.
Gardenias are a favourite plant for the Warm climate garden. They have shiny, glossy green leaves and the flowers have a stunning strong perfume that is candy to the nose. There are several varieties of Gardenias available, most have white flowers, and the plants range in height from ground cover varieties to shrubs that grow to around 1.5 metres high. They prefer a slightly acid soil and are best planted in a position with full sun to part shade. They also grow well in pots, for those who live in colder climates and need to bring them indoors. Gardenias are native to Tropical and sub-tropical regions of Africa, Southern Asia, Australasia, and Oceania. The photos show some plants not far from Sydney Harbour, where i walk past most days and enjoy their fragrance.
