The Mysore Rose

(Our first rose that bloomed after a long time)

Our garden used to have a lot of rose plants and various kinds of jasmine plants along with jungle geranium, hibiscus, and a host of wildflower plants that were grown in control.

Then came the pineapple lease farmers. They were given the land for cultivating pineapple. Ten years ago, the pineapple took over the land. It was not the pineapple that destroyed the plants but along with the pineapple, saplings had come a creeper weed which slowly spread along and engulfed the whole place. The jungle geranium and the wildflowers went down and nobody suspected a thing until a farmworker said that this creeper was the main villain.

Needless to say, the weed did not stay put. It has also spread across lands wherever these pineapple planters did their farming. The seeds come along with the saplings and grow rapidly, just like in the Jumanji movie, maybe not so fast.

Anyways, the farmers have left after their lease expired and we set about planting this rose but in a pot, this time. When the plant grows sturdy, we intend to plant more around the ground.

This rose plant has little or no thorns present and so is really easy to pluck. I have not plucked this flower as I want its beauty to remain.
