Red Raspberry Leaf Health Benefits (Not Just for the Ladies!)

Here I go again about one of those oft ignored parts of a plant. Just like strawberry and grape leaves, raspberry leaves have many medicinal benefits. They can be eaten raw or cooked into food but the most common way they are used is in the form of an herbal infusion. That is what I do with mine. I dehydrate the leaves and add them to my special herbal tea blend that we drink throughout the year.

Those who know a bit about the benefits know they are good for pregnancy, increasing lactation in nursing mothers, and other women's health issues including easing symptoms of PMS and endometriosis. However, they are also good for men's reproductive health. They even boost fertility in both men and women.

But that is NOT all! Even children can benefit from them!

The leaves are high in vitamin C and Magnesium. They also contain vitamins E, A, and B complex, and minerals including selenium (one of those big ones needed by those with low thyroid production), potassium, phosphorus, and manganese.

They have been used to treat canker and cold sores, stomach ailments, skin problems including burns and eczema, and for irrigating sores.

And of course, let us not forget the other big benefit of growing this plant, the delicious red berries that are high in antioxidants and also have anti-inflammatory properties!

Hope you enjoyed this post and will start making use of those leaves as well as that lovely fruit! Take care all and God bless! ~Heidi

Welp...didn't start growing the plants until after we had the kids. LOL

Have tried strawberry leaf before but never tried raspberry leaf. nature provides us with so much wonderful food. Another great post!

Absolutely and thank you!

Thanks for sharing @raincountry, will have to harvest some....you're full of it! Useful knowledge of course

I had surgery to remove my entire reproductive system. I had cysts and endometriosis that was spreading fast. That was 5 years ago. Armed with the knowledge of herbs and spices I could have managed and or corrected the problems. I am no longer taking hormone replacements, yay! I am researching hot flashes and night sweats (I am sorry if I offened anyone) You are a blessing Heidi, love and prayer❤

It's nice that some plants have so many useful parts, not just the one we are most familiar with. Good job in making the most of the raspberry!

Agreed and thank you! :D

This herb is medicine

We have raspberry bushes at the back of our property and I drink raspberry leaf tea (with a tough of ginger) for my digestion but mainly for nausea. I suffer from a disorder that comes with horrid bouts of nausea and this tea (I usually make it a cold sweet tea) seems to help.

Nice post! thanks for spreading the word. If people would actually see how medicinal their backyards can be... :)
