The Garden
I know I have mentioned the "garden" a few times in recent posts and I decided it is time to elaborate further. Last spring my wife stated that she wanted a "raised garden" and so I did a little bit of research and put one together for her. She's not known for having much of a green thumb and I've never tried. Well the only thing that really grew well last year was the okra plants and neither one of us care to much for okra. The cucumber plants grew well and flowered like crazy but the cucumbers never appeared.
Anyways here is a picture of our "garden" this year.
So what's kinda funny is that, much to our surprise, a few things "survived." The "spicy" or "hot" oregano plant on the left, the rosemary plant to it's right, and the strawberry plants on the very right side of the garden. Now my wife's thought was that the cucumber flowers were never "pollenated" hence no cucumbers. This made sense to me so one day we were shopping as Costco and saw a "Swiss Alps Bee House" that is supposed to attract non-aggressive native bee pollinators and so we bought one.
You can see where I placed it on the right side of the garden on the fence in the first photo. Anyways, I have yet to see any bees making their home there yet but I guess that it's still early. I do like the idea of contributing back to the environment and if some bees make it their home and prosper that can only be a good thing. So there's the story of the "garden."
Good luck with your raised bed and beehive. Looking to do something similar soon and always glad to see other people interested and doing it already! Progressive pics please!
Thanks and will do.
Good luck with further attempts to make your garden more lively :)
It looks like your oregano likes it there a lot!
We never had an issue with planting cucumbers and I'm surprised that the flower never turned into cucumbers. Keep us updated how it goes once you have some 'tenants' in your bee house :)
Gardening is a great kind of relaxation and it's very good for your soul too. Plus your own homegrown veggies will taste much better so keep it up!
Hehe, thanks, and you are very correct in that the oregano continues to grow like crazy.
It's always a good idea to have a garden close to ones house, Am sure bees will find their way inside. Just a matter of time, nice one @naegling11
Yeah, hopefully we will be able to get a few more things to grow this year. It would be nice just to step out and pluck a cucumber or tomato for a salad whenever you needed one.
Please endeavor to share the picture with the fellow steemians.... Am sure thousand will learn from it because am looking forward to do something like this soon, even if it's going to be in a smaller quantity

I like your garden. Although little garden but many plants. I like plant too. I will follow to see your plant grow.
Thanks. Hopefully will have some pictures later that show a "healthier" garden.
wow that bee house is nice looking.
It is a pretty nice looking house, I'm hoping that the bees think so too.
cute
Thanks.
Hola @naegling11
Ahhhh. Tienes bastante espacio para cultivar.
Gracias por el artículo.
Thanks. Yes we are fortunate.
gardening is a good hobby especially for retired people
I wish I was retired, someday.
Enjoy the life you are having right now , It is also the best moment of your life all the best
The bees will arrive at any time and you will have a good garden, just be patient.
