Gardening myths #1 - Cooking seeds WTF!? [Part 1/2]steemCreated with Sketch.

It's finally time to start the gardening season 2019 and I'd really love to share some of the fun with you guys.

Thanks to the internet and the gardening community here on steemit you never run out of ideas for new plants to grow or techniques to apply that make your stuff grow faster, bigger or more effective. In order to seperate voodoo and snake oil from actually legit methods, I figured I have to get scientific and start my own experiments.
For this season there are already plenty ideas piled up that I'm about to apply in my garden and the first one is supposed to make your seeds sprout faster. You may already got an idea from the titel on what it's all about and yeah, it actually involves cooking your seeds.
The whole experiment is quite simple. I took 20 cucumber seeds that are already expired (not a big loss if this fails) and soaked them in water overnight. Ten of them in cold tap water and the other ten got poured with boiling water from the coffee machine.
The next day they went into a pot with seedling soil, got covered with plastic foil to keep the soil moist and placed at a sunny and warm place in the house.
On the right side the boiled seeds and on the left side the control group.
Any bets on which one will be faster?
