Human Error. I Lost 70% Gutted

in #garden4 years ago

A few days ago I put some red cherry coneflowers outside to give them some sunshine and to get them used to the cooler climate.

I knew it was a little early to put them outdoors for prolonged periods but I thought it would do them good with all the sunshine we have been having over the past week.

With temperatures reaching 16 oc I didn't think there would be a problem leaving there until night and bringing them back in.

I fell asleep and woke up yesterday morning to realize that I had made an error, yes I left them outside overnight, and the temp dropped to -1

When I got to them all the leafs had turned brown, I felt a pit in my stomach as I have been wanting these in my garden since I saw them.

I decided to give them a chance, I brought them back inside and placed them back on the windowsill in the hope that they would come back to life.

As you can see from the pictures above some have picked up and I have some green leaves which to me is a miracle that any of them are still alive.

Only time will tell, we will have to see what happens over the next week, they may die, or they may come back, we will see.

stay safe my friends

The late frosts are wicked. I lost some early potatoes last week. The local Met Office forecast didn't even show a frost for our area.
