Are you still with me @zulman discussing old games? I hope so. In today's article, I will be continuing the series of my article about my top 10 DOS game at rank number 8. For all of the games that I have been playing in old days, todays, I am gonna talk about a game that sit in my top 8th. For my number 8 position, the game is still in the genre of Racing game. Well then, old games lover. let's start talking about the game itself.
If you read my previous post. I have post about the game called "Carnage". It is also a racing game. This game, Micro Machine almost similar to the game Carnage. However, Micro machine have a very usual (Not Unique) game play. The story of the game is very insteresting, That is why it sit on my top 8 of all old MS-DOS games that I have ever played. Moreover, I love playing games in the genre of racing a lot. Simply put. I love Racing games!
As the name suggest, Micro Machine is a racing game where the cars the the player will control is a small car. Hence toy car. As you can see in the image above. The car is very small. The view of the game is from above. That is also the reason why the car look so small when the game is played. Cars that available in the game is cannot be choose by the player. When the first game is played. The player will be given a car. Then, the player will race and have to win it. When the player win the race, the player will be continue to play in the next step. In the next step, the player will be given new cars, as the player progress to each stage. The car that the player will drive will be different too.
Let's learn a little bit about the game for those of you who never heard of it or play it

Micro machine is game released in 1991. It is a series of video games in the genre of racing with toy cars. The game was developed by Codemasters and published by them as well. The game was published for several platform, including MS-DOS, Nintendo, Sega, Game Boy, PlayStation, and even IOS device. The track that use for racing in micro machine game is in a house hold setting. It is like a track that build inside the house with the road delimiter is something commonly used in the house such as chips, papers, or even some books. In the track, there are also obstacles in the form of house hold items as well.
History of Micro Machine
There have been many series availbale for Micro Machine games. In total, there are 7 series has been published to the market. The first game was released in the year 1991, named Micro Machine and the newest series of the game is called Micro Machine World Series. This newest series is released this year 2017. Micro Machine World Series was released in June 30, 2017. This new game was release for several platform as well. The game released for Windows, OS X, Linu, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Alright, let's back to the real game. I am not going to talk a lot about the newest one. I believe you are here for the original one. Hence, OLD MS-DOS Game.
The game that released in 1991 was the first of Micro Machine game series. The game laid the foundation of the game. The unique thing about this game is that, it use miniature vehicle. The track of that used in the game is an unconventional one. For instance, the race sometimes will take place on a billiard table, while other will be in the garden. These unconventional track are all the place that we see commonly in our daily life. The track could be in the kitchen, room or etc.

Gameplay
There are 2 mode the player can choose to play the game. "Challenge" and "Head to Head" mode. In challenge mode, the player will be playing in a single player mode, while in Head to Head mode, there are two player that will play. In challenge mode, the player will be playing the qualification race in order to be able to enter to the challenge mode. Check out the image below.
When the player choose challenge mode, at the beginning the player will be asked to slect the character to played as a racer. After the character selection, the player need to win the qualifiation round in order to enter into the challenge mode.
In the qualification round, the vehicle that will the player drive is not a car. Instead, It is a boat. The arena of the race will be in the water. Tha obstacle in this track is bubles that have in the water. If the player hit the buble outside the road, the boat will be slowed down. However, if the buble exist in the middle of the track, and the player could not make in time to avoid it, the boat will be jumped and the player need to be careful, because it could make the boat jump outside the track and the player will end up lossing the qualification round.
After the player finished the qualification round, Next. the player will be availble to play the real race in the real track.

The game that you download come with an archive, you need to extract it and then run it with DOSBox. You can find how to run the game inside DOSBox below.
Here are the step you can do to play the game.
- Open DOSBox
- Mount the folder where you put the extracted Carnage game.
- Navigate to the Micro Machine folder.
- Run MICRO.EXE
