Alright, here i am again @zulman bringing some article for you about the game that we used to play when we were kids. MS-DOS games.

In today's article, I will still talking about MS-DOS game. However, today's article is a bit special because this is the article that will discuss a game that was in my heart. Haha. I mean, I love this game so much. This game is my number one favorite to play in old days. This article going to be the final article about my top 10 DOS games series article. I have been talking about my top 10 for more than a week now. You can follow the articles if you want to see the review of the game in the list. I will put the list at the bottom of the article. If you follow my article series about this top 10 DOS game, you will probably notice that my favorite genre for games is Racing. However, this game that i am going to talk about that sit in my number 1 favorite games is not in the genre of Racing, but it is in the genre of first person shooter of FPS for short. A bit odd huh, well, racing game is still my favorite and the reason why this game is the first favorite is that, it is the first FPS game that I ever played, and this game that make me love playing FPS game as well until now.

Alright, as you can already see from the title of this article, the game that i am going to talk about is called "DOOM".

This game is belong to the genre of FPS(First Person Shooter). This game is still one of the popular game nowadays, there are lot of new updated to this game. The first release of this game is in the year 1993. This game was considered as one of the most popular, most significant, and most influential title in the game industry or having help to pioneer the now ubiquitous first-person shooter games. The gameplay of the original game was divided into there stage of nine-level episodes. The game was distributed via shareware and mail order.

The story of the game in short is in DOOM games, the player will be acting as the role of an unnamed space marine. This marine then become popularly known as "doomguy". The doomguy aka the player, the main character has to fight his ways through hordes of demons that come from Hell to invades. With one third of the game that has nine level distributed as a shareware, DOOM was played by a lot of gamers out there.

As an addition, DOOM was not only popularizing the genre of FPS games, it is also pioneered the best 3D graphics, networked multiplayer, and also support fo customized addition and modification via packaged files. This packaged file was a data archive that well known as WADs. As the sign of the effect of the game that bring to the gaming industries, another old game that was release in 1990s also got popular because the name is almost similar, the game name was boom, This game also known by gamers at that time as "DOOM Clones".

Alright, to begin with, let's talk about the game first. Let's remember what is this game about.

DOOM is a first person shooter game that was released in the year of 1993 by ID Software. ID Software is an American video game developer headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The DOOM game was the first release from the DOOM franchise. The franchise itself was later continued with the follow-up the following game entitled DOOM II: Hell of Earth that was release in the year 1994. There are also another update to DOOM game that was release in the year 1996. This release was the final doom. This one originally released for MS-DOs.

DOOM games, although it was originally release for MS-DOS, the game itself has been ported to numerous other platforms. Once, the game's source code even also release in the year 1997, it spawned even more adaptations as fan who love the game ported it the game, the code to countless devices. Although the game have a large of popularity, in the middle of 1990s, the game popularity has started to loose. The game was not mainstream anymore and was not as appealing as before because the technology that DOOM game was using is surpassed, the game engine of DOOM is not the best anymore. Despite this downfall, the fan still love the game and still made a lot of WADs, Speedruns, and other modification to the original.

Then after its downfall, the franchise received it popular attention again in the year 2004 with the release of DOOM 3, a retelling of the original game using id Tech 4.

Alright, now let's talked about the storyline and the gameplay of DOOM (The first DOOM for MS-DOS)

DOOM Storyline

DOOM is a science fiction/horror video game that has a background that is given in the game's instruction manual. Each episode has different story, the action as the player character progresses through the levels. The doomguy that the player of this game role play is relocated to planer Mars after violating his commanding officer, that order him to kill his own species, which mean, the commanding officer ask him to kill civilians which his does not follow. Because of this, he is exiled to Mars.

A corporation is performing secret experiments with some teleportation technology where they are creating gateways between the two moons of Mars, Phobos and Deimos. Mars considered by the marines as the dullest assignment. However, all of those thinking was suddenly change when the experiments go horribly wrong. Something look very evil start coming from the gateways, killing and possessing all of the personnel in the corporation.

As the last man who live, the player character mission is to fight to survive. Fight the demonic enemies by himself in order to keep them from attacking Earth.
