Back again with me @zulman discussing another old games in order to bring back sweet old days memories for those of you who ever heard about the game and giving you information about some best old games for those of you who never heard about it. In today's post, I would like to talk about the game that still belong to the genre of vehicular combat, the game called "Highway Hunter".

Well, hello everyone, how are things going for all of you. I really hope all of you are doing fine. Welcome back again to my Steemit blog. As always and always be, there is only one type of content on my blog, and that is another review for MS-DOS games. The games that will be reviewed in posts in the game that was release under the year 2000. Well, as for today's post, another DOS game that i would like to discuss is a game that still belong to the genre of racing, but it is not exactly racing game. The game is actually a combat game by using vehicles. So, it is a vehicular combat game. There are also some similar setup in term of gameplay if we compare this game to another game that have similar genre. However, what make this game worth playing is that it has some good feature such as destroying others vehicles with a lot of Weapons type. And then, for those of you who love the Sci-fi theme, this is one of the game that i am sure you will love to play. It has one of the best Sci-fi theme for an old game. There are a lot of monsters and alien space craft as well as the enemies that the Highway Hunter player need to destroy. So, overall, this game is really one of the game that has become my favorite now. I still could not believe myself, why i never heard of this game before. Alright, enough with this intro, let as talk in details about the game.

The video game Highway Hunter that we are going to discuss today is a video game that belong to the genre of Vehicular combat. As the vehicles use in the game is a car, so, i think it can also be assumed that this game is belong to genre of racing as well. This game has a very good gameplay. For me personally, what make this game very interesting and really stand out from another game that have similar gameplay or genre is that the game have a lot of fun in term of the weapons that available when shooting the enemies. And the bonuses that we obtain on the way has a lot of variety as well. The design of the vehicles or the character of the opponents in this video game is for me very interesting too. I like it a lot. The enemies character design is very good. The gameplay in short is that the player of Highway hunter is need to destroy the enemies as much as possible.

Well, before we are going to talk in details about Highway Hunter video game, I would like to make a quick reminder that although this game have a combat gameplay, this game is not violent at all. So, this game could be played by a wider range of age. Another good thing is that, the gameplay is not difficult. In fact, it is so easy. So, for those of you who want to relax and have some fun without the need to think to much, this game is one the game that can give you that. But, off course, if you like playing old games. As you know, the graphics is not great. So, if you care about the graphics in video games too much, then, I think this is exactly not for you. But for those of you who do not. Please go ahead and try it.

Alright, Now, Let's start talking about this game. We will start about the history, development and give my opinion on this game at the end of this article.

Now, let's begin by learning a bit about this video game.

The Highway Hunter video game is a video game that belong to the genre of vehicular combat that was release in the year of 1994. The game was release for MS-DOS platform. This video game was developed by Omega Integral Systems and Safari Software. This two companies working together in order to developed this game. Although, they are working together, the company that responsible for publishing this game is a company form America that based in Cary, North Caroline called Epic MegaGames. This company partially owned by Tencent.

in term of game play, the game used a top-down view. The player of this game will get a vehicle to drive that situate in a highway. The car will constantly move forward. in this case, the player cannot be able to stop the car. although the game is situate in a highway, the ground is also visible from the side because the game is played in a top-down view.

although the vehicle cannot be stop when you play the game, the car can be maneuver around the screen as long as the car still stay in the highway or it is still in the road. When you play the game, as the car keep moving forward, the enemies will come one by one or many by one in front of the player's car. So, in order to destroy the opponents, the player need to fire them. The player also able to destroy the opponents without firing them, but be careful to check the health your vehicle because it is only can stand just for a couple of time hitting the opponents vehicle due to the shield power the player's car have. However, if the opponents vehicle is too strong, the shield would not hold up and the player's car will be destroy soon and the game will be over. So, the player need to be careful.

The opponents that available in this game is not only car, but there are also ground enemies on the highway and also flying enemies that can come from another direction, not only from the front but from the side as well or even from the top. Be sure to destroy all the enemies that you see when you play the game because some of them might drop some bonuses such as weapons power up which can make your car have a stronger projectiles.

There are three difficulties level in this game which also make the game divided into three episodes. At first, the arena of the game is more look like earth but as you go on to the next level, the arena will look more like the alien world.

Alright, now let's talk a little bit about the story of the game.

Highway Hunter Story

The story of the game is taken place when the axis of Allied Planets took over Earth and installed terraformers to reshape the environment and make it more hospitable for aliens. Unfortunately the terraformers are killing all humans life. Then, after a stint at freedom-fighting, you the player were captured and put into an adjustment camp working in the garage. You help develop a vehicle that alien will use to destroy the remaining resistance. Seeing your chance, you steal one of this vehicle and break out the prison. Now, you must punch through the prison security parameter, rejoin the partisans, destroy the terraformers, and save your world.

Now, to save the world, let's learn first how to control the vehicle.

Keyboard Control for The game.

In term of control, there is not much for this game, it is only a usual control for racing game with a little more key for firing Weapons:

My opinion about Highway Hunter video games.

Well, as i have said in the beginning of this article, I could not believe myself why i never play or even heard of this game before. I love this game, I love the gameplay, the story, the Sci-fi theme in it. I just love it. If you like playing old DOS Games and love vehicular combat games, This is a must try.
