Here, I would not be just reviewing the game, but also try to experience how it feels to play the game. I am reviewing or playing these old games is in order to bring back or just remembering all of those sweet memories that I have in the old days. Abuse - 360 Degree Side-scrolling Action Game

For today's article, here in my Steemit blog, I would like to review or experience another old DOS game that belong to the genre of Run and Gun video games. If you have following my article until now, you will probably notice that I have not review much about this kind of genre video game, but this is certainly not my first Run and Gun video game review. The video game that I am going to to review today is called Abuse. Yeah, the title of this video game seem scary and violent. This video game have a very interesting gameplay. Talking about the gameplay, this video game is one of the best Run and Gun video game that I have tried recently. To be honest, I have never play this game before. So, this is my first time experiencing this game.

The character that the player will control in this video game is called Nick Vrenna. He is the hero, the protagonist side in this video game. Nick Vrenna has been incarcerated inside a prison which the prison staff perform an unethical medical experiment to the inmates in the prison. Because of this experiment, a prison riot occurs and then the experiment that has been conducted before gone horribly wrong. All the inmate inside the prison are get infected by a substance called Abuse. They who are infected are transforming into monsters. The only one that does not infected with the virus is Nick Vrenna. He try her best to prevent the virus to infect the water supply by arms himself and fights through the a lot of monsters and then escapes from the prison complex.

In term of the gameplay, this video game that called Abuse is almost similar with another side-scrolling platform video game. At the time, this video game is considered by many have some of the unusual control scheme. In this video game, the keyboard is used to control or move Nick, while the mouse is used for aiming the weapons. Nowadays, this kind of control is can be nearly found in all of shooter game. The basic gameplay of this video game is consist of fighting various enemies. These enemies can take various form such as Mutants, that prefer to attack in huge swarm or a monster. There are also some side gameplay where the player need to solve some simple puzzle in order to proceed to the next level of the game. This video game also support for Multiplayer play through IPX network and TCP/IP.

Alright, as always, before we are going to talk in details about Abuse video game, as usual I would like to make a quick reminder that this video game is considered a violence game. There are human killing with the scene that contain blood in it. So this video game could not be played by a wider range of age, this game is age restricted because of it's violence. Although the gameplay is not very difficult to play, I would still not recommend this game for kids or uderage gamer. This video game includes violence in it.

Alright, Now, Let's start talking about this game. We will start about the history, development, gameplay, game modes and give my opinion on this game at the end of this article.

Abuse video game is a video game that belong the genre of Run and Gun. This video game was developed by Crack dot Com and then published by Electronic Arts. Electronic arts only published this video game for North America market. While for Europe market, the video game was published by Origin Systems. This video game was released in the year of 1996 for MS-DOS platform. To be exact, the game was release in February 29, 1996. Later in the development, the game also release for another platform such as Mac OS and Linux. The Mac OS version was published by Bungie and release in the year of 1997.

Another interesting things about this game is that, the game's source code and also along with some of the shareware content that available, has been release to public domain since in the late of 1990s. Because of this public source code, the game has been ported by many fans for another platform such as Linux as well. You can see the summary of this game development below.

The game development itself has some interesting story to it. The storyline of the game that comming out from production has a very different story. This video game has an update that replace the original storyline. In the original, the storyline is involving an alien invasion. This alien that do the invasion called "Ants". The player itself was a special ops agent that sent to the alien hive to destory them by shutting down the cooling system. However, in the storyline of the game that has been updated, there is no alient, infact, it is a monster or mutants that involve human experiment. and the player is not a special ops agent, but a prison civil who survive the experiment accident and fight his way to survive and escape the prison area.

This video game also implement some of technique called active zone in its gameplay. This technique is used to improve the performance of the game's graphic engine. This technique is where the game only allow some objects within a certain radius of the visible game windows that are active during the play. This means that the enemies that are outside the active zone cannot attack the player.

My opinion about Eye of the Beholder video games.

As I have said earlier at the beginning of this article, I have never played this game before. This is the firs time i try playing this game. So, after spending some time with this game. I could say that this video game is very good. The gameplay is very easy, there are only small control keyboard and mouse use to control this game. This game is really bring back those sweet memories that i have about run and gun video game. Now, this game is belong into my favorite old video game and certainly i will play again and for you who like playing old games, this is very recommended.
