Here, I would not be just reviewing the game, but also try to experience how it feels to play the game. I am reviewing or playing these old games is in order to bring back or just remembering all of those sweet memories that I have in the old days. Alright, let's start our old DOS game review.

BRUTAL - Paws of Fury

For today's post, I would like to review another old DOS game to bring back those sweet memories. The game that I am going to review today is a game that belong to the genre of versus fighting video games. Versus fighting video game genre is a video game where two player fight a one-on-one match in a certain arena which a certain rule. If you have following my article until now, you will probably notice that I have review about this kind of genre of video game. So, this is certainly not my first fighting video game review. The video game that I am going to to review today is called Brutal : Paws of Fury. Yeah, the title of this video game which contain the word brutal seem scary and violent. But, no worries, this video game is not belong to violence kind of video games.

This video game does not have any unique gameplay to it. The gameplay of this video game is very similar to another versus fighting video game. There are a lot of another old DOS versus fighting video game that is available out there, Such as Mortal Kombat that I have reviewed in my old post. But one thing that make this game unique is that the character that the player will control in this game is all animals not human. Some of these animal are even a funny one such as a rabbit. To be honest, I have never play this game before. So, this is my first time playing this game and try my best to give my opinion about this game later.

The character that the player will control in this video game in total are 12 character. These character have their own unique skill. At the beginning of the game, the player need to select a character that the player want to control. There are a lot of character available. All of the character are in animal form, such as rabbit, lion, rat, cheetah and many more. For details about each of these character as listed below with their picture as well.

Tai Cheetah

A cheetah who is mentoring Kendo Coyote.

Style : Tai Chi, Speed through wisdom

Favorite attack : Fist Whirlwind

Chung Poe

A mole who transforms into an anthropomorphic bat-dragon hybrid during battle.

Style : Sabbal

Favorite attack : Claw of the ancient

Psyco Kitty

A cat who apparently suffers from hyperactivity.

Style : Cat Fight

Favorite attack : Back Hand Claw

Karate Croc

A crocodile bar brawler.

Style : Street Brawler

Favorite attack : The dirtier the better

Rhei Rat

A rat who is an accomplished Thai boxer.

Style : Thai Boxing

Kungfu Bunny

A rabbit monk.

Style : Relaxed Paw

Prince Leon of Kenya

A lion rock star.

A panther who is a member of a sinister cult.

A bear who claims to be the strongest animal in the world.

A llama who is currently the holder of the Belt of Heaven championship.

Favorite attack : Not to fight at all

Foxy Roxy

A lycra-wearing vixen who is a politician and social activist.

Style : Pencak Silat

Kendo Coyote

A coyote who is motivated by greed.

Style : Tae Kwon Do

Alright, as always, before we are going to talk in details about Brutal - Paws of Fury video game, as usual I would like to make a quick reminder that this video game is although have some scary title, For me, I would consider this video game is not violence. Although some website might categorize this game into violence video game, after spending some times playing this video game, I do not think this video game is violent at all. So, this video game is not restricted to age and it is available to be played by a wider range of age. Then, the gameplay is also very easy, there is not much control or special strategy that the player need to remember. Things that the player need to remember is the keyboard key to launch the attack to the opponents.

Alright, Now, Let's start talking about this game. We will start about the history, development, gameplay, game modes and give my opinion on this game at the end of this article.

Now, let's begin by learning a bit about this video game development.

Brutal - Paws of Fury Game Development.

Brutal: Paws of Fury is a video game that belong to the genre of versus fighting. This video game was published in 1994 by GameTek and Cybersoft in the United State and Europe, and the company named Kemco responsible for publishing this video game in Japan. This video game has been release for several platform, those platform includes Sega CD, Commodore Amiga, Commodore Amiga CD32, Sega Genesis, MS-DSO and SNES. There is also an update version of this game that was release with the title Brutal Unleashed : Above the Claw. This update version was release for SEGA 32X and MS-DOS platform. This update was release in the year of 1995 with added new character, arenas, and music.

In term of the storyline, this video game tell a story about an island where all martial artist are invite for a fight competition. For every four years, the world's toughest martial artists are invited to compete in the most grueling tournament. This tournament also referred to Brutal Island Tournament. Ther is only one winner of the tournament and the winner will gain the privilege to challenge Dali Lama, the greatest fighter in the world, for the coveted Belt of Heaven championship.

My opinion about Brutal - Paws of Fury video games.

As I have said earlier at the beginning of this article, I have never played this game before. This is the firs time i try playing this game. So, after spending some time with this game. I could say that this video game is very good. The gameplay is very easy, there are only small control keyboard and mouse use to control this game. This game is really bring back those sweet memories that i have about versus fighting video game. Now, this game is belong into my favorite old video game and certainly i will play again and for you who like playing old games, this is very recommended.
