Happy Chinese New Year

Happy Chinese New Year Steemians! Happy holiday! I did not post anything last two days because I have a lot of things that must be done. Today, I'm gonna do what usually I do. Actually, I almost run of video games that I want to review. I have searched on the internet which video game is good to be reviewed and I got nothing. I just found a good video that to be reviewed and played. The name of the video game is Alien Storm. Maybe you have read about Alien Soldier and I need to tell you that these two video games are not related each other. Ok, to save our time, let us review the video game.

Alien Storm (エイリアンストーム) was developed and published by Sega in 1990. The genre of this video game is beat 'em up or shooting. In the beginning, Sega developed Alien Storm for Arcade version. But, later, Sega decided to develop for Sega Mega Drive, Sega Genesis, and Sega Master System. Then, in 2007, Alien Strom which is Wii's Virtual Console version was released. To make the video game looks better, the developer adopted the version of Sega Mega Drive. In addition, this video game comes up in Sega Mega Drive Collection for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Gameplay

The genre that is used by Alien Storm is a side-scrolling and beat 'em up. This video game looks like Golden Axe which has a similar three playable characters, artistic style and picking up or powering up special attack. The player can choose a character that he or she wants to use for the game. However, each video game version has the different player number that can be played at the same time. For example, Sega Master System allows one character can be played. In Sega Mega Drive, the number player is up two players while in the arcade version, the player number is three.

All of the characters can be played since the game is running. The number of mission in this video game is nine (eight in Sega Mega Drive version) and it has several stages. Then, the players must blow up the aliens which are from the streets until to the mother ship. The players also must vanish the alien mother in this ship. When the players complete the mission, the next mission become harder than that of before. These aliens have the ability to hide inside an object such as plants, postboxes, trashcans, drums, and other items.

This video game also provides the supported items during the game. For example, the flying head will appear when the players defeat certain aliens. The players need to shoot this object to add life number or energy. The energy is the important thing in this video game because when the players utilize the certain weapons, the weapon will take the player energy to fire. Then, if the players want to use the most powerful special weapon, the amount of energy is taken much more.

Each character can perform attacks such as punching and kick with the unlimited number. Then, each character also has their own special weapon. For example, the character named Garth can summon an Air Force starship that drops the bombs. Another character named Scooter has the ability to teleport out of his current location and leave the bombs there to blow up the aliens. Then, a nuclear weapon can be called by a character which is named Karen. To perform these special weapons, the characters must have enough energy.

The number of the enemy boss is three in this video game. They are an alien spaceship, an alien brain, and a single boss in the middle of the game which has three different shapes. At the end of the last mission, the single boss is repeated as a common enemy. The side-scrolling view will change to shooting gallery (first-person perspective) at the end of each mission. Here, the players have to shot the aliens that appear from anywhere.

Plot

Earth is being invaded by a homicidal alien race. The chaos happens anywhere. Then, the Earth only can be saved by a special force team which is known as the Alien Busters. This special force consists of three guys. The first is Karen (in some version known as Karla) which is a woman soldier. Then, the second is Garth (also known as Gordon is some version) which is a man. Then the last is Scooter (also known as Slammer in some versions) which is a humanoid robot. Then, they have to defeat every alien from the streets until the mother ship which has the mother of all aliens.

Then, it's time for me to write my opinion about this video game. There is no special thing in the storyline of this video game. However, the genre of this game is quite unique because it has more than one type such as a side-scrolling, beat 'em up, and shooter. Then, there are three characters that can be used by the player. Each character is also supported by a special individual weapon. In short, I give 7.5 of 10 for this video game. See you in the next post.
