Last two days, I reviewed video games which are Golden Axe series. I got some positive responses from the reader about these video games. I think that this video game series was quite popular at that time. So, today, I'm gonna review the last series of Golden Axe which is called Golden Axe III. Don't expect too much from this post because you will find almost similar information to the previous series. Ok, don't waste time here and let's review this video game.

GOLDEN AXE III
Golden Axe III has the same genre as the previous series. Its genre is "hack and slash"/a side-scrolling/beat 'em up. This video game was developed by Sega and also released by Sega. In the beginning, this video game was released for Sega Mega Drive Platform in Japan on June 25, 1993. Meanwhile, in North America, this video game was made for Sega Channel. After success for Sega Mega Drive and Sega Channel, this video game was re-released for PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii Virtual Console.

Gameplay
The gameplay of this video game has been enhanced to be better and it still uses the same genre which is "hack and slash" because it is the essence of Golden Axe series. Those new features are new characters and new moves such as magic spells, special attacks, and teamwork attacks. I think that that's amazing because you can perform many new movements to deal with the obstacles. Then, this video game provides junction points during the game. So, the player can choose which path that he or she wants to take.
In the last two series, there are three warriors that you can choose namely, Gilius Thunderhead, Ax Battler, and Tyris Flare. However, in this video game, Ax Battler and Tyres Flare have been substituted with new warriors. I introduce you the new characters that are available in this video game. The first is a giant and also a humanoid black panther named Proud Cragger. The second is Chronos "Evil" Rait which is a beast. Then, Kain Grinder who substitutes Ax Battler. He is also a swordsman. The last is a woman warrior named Sahra Burn who substitutes Tyres Flare. In addition, in this video game, you cannot play as Gilius Thunderhead because he only appears during cut-scenes.
New moves are also presented in this video game. To deal with the obstacles and defeat the enemies you can do blocking, sweep attacks, projectile attacks, defensive and offensive special attacks, and a new grappling system. Then, each character also has their own special ability. For example, an air-slam throw is owned by Proud Cragger. Then, Chronos and Sahra can perform double jump and wall jump. Meanwhile, in multiplayer mode, a team attack can be done by the players.
Moreover, this video game also brings back some features that were removed in the second series. The first is mischievous gnomes who carry blue magic potions and food. Now, you can find them in this video game. Then, you will get an extra life if you free a certain number of the prisoner. They are scattered in many places such as trapped in barrels, stuck in crystal cells and guarded by the enemy mages. Moreover, the usage of blue magic potions is the same as the first series. It means that the player cannot control how much blue potions that they want to use.
Plot
The set of the location of Golden Axe III is still the same as Golden Axe and Golden Axe II. The location takes place in a fictional land named Yuria. After defeating an evil clan who is led by Dark Guld, the land becomes peace again. Everything was good and the people were happy to live in this land. Suddenly, a Princess of Darkness who is named Damud Hellstrike appears. This time is worse than before because he takes away Golden Axe and curses all of the warriors. Luckily, there is a warrior who can relieve the curse. Then, he helps others warriors to relieve the curse. After that, they fight Damud Hellstrike.

My Opinion
I have explained some important information about this video game and also played this video game. Now, it's time to comment the video game. The storyline of the video game is almost the same with its predecessor. What I like the most is the gameplay which has been extended. The player can perform many attacks to defeat the enemies. Then, there are two game modes that the player can choose. Each character also has their own special attack. In nutshell, I give 8 of 10 for this video game.
