Duke Nukem 3D is a video game that adopts a first-person shooter video game. The developer of this video game is 3D Realms while the publisher was GT Interactive Software. Actually, it is a sequel to Duke Nukem and Duke Nukem II that were published by 3D Realms. It still adopts the same adventures as its predecessor. Duke Nukem 3D was considered to be responsible to popularize first-person shooters. The video game experts said that interactivity of the environments, gameplay, level design, and unique risqué humor are very interesting.

Gameplay

The genre of this video game is a first-person shooter that similar to Doom's gameplay. In this video game, the gameplay involves movements from The protagonist's point of view. The player only can see from the character's view. Then, if the player sees the enemies, the player can shoot them. The environments of Duke Nukem 3D are very interactive and destructible.

Each level was designed for a fairly non-linear way. Thus, the player can use air ducts, backdoors, and sewers for avoiding enemies or finding hidden caches. These places are also filled with the object that the player can interact. These objects benefit the player. For example, light switches make player easy to see; broken hydrants and water fountains provide several health points; tipping strippers provoke a quote from Duke.

There are many weapons in Duke's arsenal such as the "Mighty Foot" (a basic kick attack), a pistol, a shotgun, a triple-barrelled chain gun, a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, pipe bombs, freeze and shrink rays, laser landmines, and the rapid-fire "Devastator" rocket launcher. A special weapon which is known as the "Expander" is available in this video game. Furthermore, the player can collect various items during the game. For Example, the portable medkit can heal Duke; Steroids can speed up Duke's movement.

A wide variety of enemies is available in this video game series. For example, some of them are aliens and mutated humans. As usual, for a first-person shooter, Duke Nukem 3D experiences an expansive number of lesser adversaries, and also supervisors, ordinarily toward the finish of scenes. Like Duke, these foes approach an extensive variety of weapons and gear, and some weaker adversaries have jetpacks.

PLOT

The time setting of this video game is in the 21st century and located on Earth. The game is started directly after the occasions of Duke Nukem II, with Duke coming back to Earth in his space cruiser. As Duke comes to Los Angeles with expectations of taking a vacation, but his ship is shot around obscure hostiles. While sending a trouble flag, Duke discovers that outsiders are assaulting Los Angeles and have changed the LAPD. With his excursion designs now demolished, Duke hits the "eject" button and pledges to do whatever it takes to stop the alien invasion.

My Opinion

I have explained some important information about this video game and also played this video game. Now, it's time for me to write what I'm thinking about this video game. There is nothing special about the plot of this video game. But it adopts some scenes from the movies that make the game fun. Then, the gameplay is quite interesting because it features a first-person point view. Then, the player can utilize a special weapon named the "Expander". In short, I give 8.5 of 10 for this video game. I hope you enjoy reading my article and see you in the next post.
