RE: Top 7 MMO Games that should exist

in #gaming7 years ago

Most of them I liked a lot. I just don't think that the last two would work (well actually we have a TES MMO and it doesn't). That's because you're not considering the "massive" element of MMO, which by definition mostly destroys immersion. It's cool to think about guilds and castles and stuff, but when there's a million players it's going to get too crowded to be fun anyway; this stuff works when you feel like your role in the world is unique, or when you choose a path that distinguishes you from the other peasants and farmers, but the moment every player wants to do that you're not really distinguishing yourself. It's a lot like The Old Republic, being a Jedi is cool when it actually gives you a uniqueness, like in KOTOR, but if everyone in a universe is a Jedi...well it gets old and boring fast.

The rest of them I liked a lot. I always thought they should do a good sports MMO, one where you are a player who starts his or her career in lower leagues and tries to get to higher levels in better teams. I'm thinking teams composed of players, managed by players. The progression system and the scale of such a game could be very hard to imagine, and so would the technical aspect (imagine a 11 vs 11 soccer game, someone is bound to have network issues or ragequitting and whatnot). I still think that in a few years, it could work.

Nice one anyway!
