RE: Dark Souls 2 - Playing games is stupid and shit and I don't want to do this

in #gaming5 years ago

It always creeps me out when I see how many hours I've played a videogame. We don't live all that long, so if I'm going to play, I'd better be having a nice time. (These days, the wife and I pretty much only play Minecraft--but yeah, I'll avoid looking at my lifetime statistics on that.)

Dark souls looks like it might be a decent way to learn patience and perseverance, but if I wanted that level of frustration I think I might lift weights or practice an instrument.

Don't mean to sound like a dick--but it doesn't actually sound like you're enjoying yourself anyway, are you?

Even though I enjoy it, sometimes I'm happy I can't see the hours put in a game. I wouldn't want to know how many hours of HoMM 3, ADOM or Final Fantasy 7 I've played in my past. Now there are only few games I've put 100+ hours into, mostly because of adult responsibilities and other boring things, just like you.

Dark Souls is a game to learn something. Maybe it's patience, maybe it's not. I think that I'm already quite patient, but now I'm learning to keep my head cool. I don't mean I'm getting angry at the games, but I'm prone of making bad decisions when I'm in stressful situations.

And I'm not enjoying myself too much yet. The largest pleasure so far is that I'm kind of doing OK :D
