I suppose combat could be as varied as you wanted it to be but there aren't a lot of options. When I tried to do "alternate" attack methods I just found them rather counter productive. Close up combat basically consists of a bunch of dodging followed by "whack whack whack" as well.
Oh and I should have mentioned that this game has knock back as well and this is really annoying on this one portion of the game where you have to fight a ton of mobs, many of which are behind you at any given point in time, on a raised platform where getting knocked off means you insta-die
Do you not get knock back resistance? Are all the characters combat types the same?
There is only one character that I am aware of, you have to play as Kena. I don't remember if you can get knock back resistance, I think to a certain degree you could but it wouldn't help you on that level I am referring to because it was explosions that would throw you off the side at times.
That really sucks actually. But i guess that is the game mechanics they wanted.
