Gaming: Game Gear: The Battery EatersteemCreated with Sketch.

Who here has played the game gear? It was ahead of its time. It was a "portable" console that played games in full colour. What? Yes it the days of the Game Boy it was a big deal. But if you are wondering why I quoted the word portable it is because it ate batteries fast. I mean really fast. And as you had to play a lot of games in one sitting, your batteries were not going to cut it. And it took 6 AA batteries. Not 2 but 6. That is a lot of money to blow through to play it on the fly.

However if you had a cord, which I did, you could plug it in anywhere and play it as much as you wanted. I remember playing this xmen game that was pretty solid as well as this RPG game I bought on vacation that froze at a certain part so I could never beat it. I also remember that plug getting disconnected in the middle of a game. This system didn't come close to competing with the Game Boy which added colour later on. But for the time it really was an impressive machine. Even if you had to sit next to a wall to play it.

Did you have one?

I had the X-Men and Spider-Man vs Arcade game. And also spent countless hours on Shinobi!
