Age of Empires I: The Rise of Rome Trial Version Gameplay
The trial version for Age of Empires I: The Rise of Rome, the 1998 expansion pack of the critically acclaimed original Age of Empires, the first title of the eponymous real-time historical-based strategy video game franchise developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft Windows in 1997, featured a three-scenario single-player campaign focused on the Punic War.
The player controls the forces of the Carthaginians in their efforts of defeating and subduing the Roman invaders. Although the Carthaginians are sworn enemies of the Romans in this video game, they share the same architectural style for the buildings and also have common units.
As a matter of fact, the four brand new civilisations that were added along with the Rise of Rome expansion pack, namely Carthage, Rome, Palmyra, and Macedonia, share the very same architecture for buildings (as well as a number of unique units), but have different bonuses and economic advantages as they progress in the game's stages. The bonuses for each new civilisation that come with the Rise of Rome expansion can be identified as follows:
- Carthaginians - bonuses for naval units and war elephants
- Macedonians - bonuses for siege units
- Palmyrans - economic and trade bonuses
- Romans - infantry and construction bonuses
