What Games to Buy for Christmas, Day 1; Pokemon Sun and Moon

Introduction

Mele Kalikimaka (Merry Christmas in Hawaiian) Steemians. For the next seven days leading up to Christmas I will be talking about games that I would recommend as gifts to any gamer. These posts will have my thoughts on the game, and I will give details of said games.

What is Pokemon Sun and Moon

Pokemon Sun and Moon is a Role Playing game developed by Game Freak, and was released on November 18 2016.

Story

The game starts out with the Player's character moving to the Alola Region, which is heavily inspired by Hawaii. Soon after the player arrives they are chosen by the guardian of Melemele Island known as Tapu Koko to participate in the Island trials. While along the way learning about these new types of creatures known as Ultra Beasts.

Gameplay

The object of the game is to battle, and catch all the pokemon and to be the very best like no one ever was. There are four islands that make up the Alola Region, and they are known as; Melemele Island with one trial and a grand trial, Akala Island with three trials and a grand trial, Ula'ula Island with two trials and a grand trial, then there's Poni Island with one trial and a grand trial. They have also added new features to the game such as; poke ride which allows the player to ride on certain pokemon and allows the player to go to unreachable areas, Poke Refresh which is used to re-energize your pokemon after battle, Festival Plaza is where you can connect with other people online, Poke Pelago which is where your pokemon stored in your PC go and do various things depending on the isle, then there are Z moves which are special moves that your pokemon can preform.

These are three starter pokemon that you can choose from. On the left is Rowlet the grass type starter. in the middle is Litten the Fire type starter. Then to the right is Poplio the water type starter.

Presentation

These games look, and sound great on the 3DS. Even though its apparent that these games are pushing the system to its limits. Pokemon Sun and Moon are the most detailed games in the series to date.

Final Thoughts

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Pokemon, and these game are a celebration of the franchise. If you are a fan of Pokemon, or if you just liked the original generation this game is for you. Or if you know someone who has a 3DS and loves Pokemon this is a great game to give someone as a gift. These games are $40 each but you can get one or the other, and its for the Nintendo 3DS.
