New Futurama Mobile Game in Development

It is a shame that Futurama was treated like it was when it was airing new episodes. Sure, the reboot “movies” were not up to par for most fans, but they were still good. Games wise, mobile fans of the cartoon have been kind of left out in the cold. Sure, we got that Bejeweled style game but, seriously, that was not even close to being “Futurama” enough. The comedy was iffy at best in that puzzle game with the Futurama license kind of feeling like it was tacked on as an afterthought. Well, now fans can rejoice as a new Futurama game is on the way. It may not be the game you are wanting though.

Tinyco is behind the upcoming Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow game. Mobile gamers are probably already rolling their eyes, unless they are fans of Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff and Marvel Avengers Academy. Interestingly, Tinyco is working with the original writers for Futurama for this game.

Yep, there are going to be In App Purchases (IAP) and timers to sit through galore. Then add in the fact that this is Futurama, a show that regularly made fun of “freemium” games and the lifestyle around them and you have a recipe for at least one messed up timer or IAP to watch out for. I figure there will be one stupidly long timer or an extremely, grossly even, overpriced IAP in Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow.

From the screenshots shown in the Google Play listing, where you can pre-register, it appears that this Futurama game is going to be more like Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff (2D) than Avengers Academy (3D).
