A Video Game Bar in Seoul!!!
The drinks are themed, the lights are from Mario, the games are 100% FREE, and it’s open late! In Seoul and possibly all of Asia this is my favorite bar! It’s the Retro Game Bar and HOLY S**T does it live up to it’s name!
In the Hongdae district of Seoul on the third floor of a non discript building lies an experience like no other! It’s a video game themed bar geared towards gamers. You pay for the drinks(which are all video game themed) BUT the games are free. One drink an hour, one drink a night, they don’t keep count! Just head up to the bar, order away and then head over to your console of choice!
From the NES to the N64 to newer systems like the Xbox, PS4, etc. they have it all! Better yet due to the power of emulators almost every game out there for all systems provided is yours to play! In addition to the video game consoles there are also old school board games and American frat party style games available to play. Such as Jenga and beer pong.
On top of the AMAZING game selection the attention to detail is phenomenal. Everything from the lights hanging overhead to the figurines adorning the bar to the tap handles to the bathrooms keeps with the video game theme. Not one detail is left ignored! THE FREAKIN’ TAP HANDLES ARE THEMED PEOPLE!!!
Overall, this bar blew me away! I’ve been to similar style bars but the drinks are marked up, you pay by the hour or game, there’s little attention to detail and the game selection is limited. Here this was in NO WAY the case. I was only in Seoul for a week but we went to this bar three times! If you ever find yourself in Hongdae I STRONGLY recommend you check this place out(https://m.facebook.com/RetrogamebarRGB/).
Cheers!
really good job like it and upvoted.
Thanks!
I am a big fan of retro games! I played Mario, Pokemon, Sonic and more games when I was a kid! Long time ago :D
You’d love this place then! It caters to old school gamers like you and me :)
This is so awesome. I wish I knew this was there when I was in Seoul last year.
I was there is August of 2017 and it had just opened so it might not have been there when you went. Next time!
Yeah I was there 2016! Stayed in the same area though and loved it!

Awesome! Hopefully this’ll get me a bit of visibility. I really tried to make a good write up :)
Now that's a bar I would happily traipse to without having to have an event organised there first! Not sure if I will ever be in the area unfortunately, but it's awesome to know places like that exist XD
Are you going back to get more time there then? ;D
Probably won’t be going back just for the bar as the flight alone is close to $1,000.
I'm sure there'll be other things to go back for too! :D But yeh fair enough that's pretty expensive!
fantastic shop.
Definitely a cool place 😊
Good photos, I am a photographer, it passes for my blog and sees my content, I hope that it should be of your taste :D greetings
Thanks!
excellent that spectacular bar is impacted with everything that I saw and what you explain with only the view you see that it is excellent for the consumer and other than that a nice atmosphere with distraction to video games I would like one of these in my country
Yea, it’d be great to have a place like this nearby!

Yea, it’s a pretty awesome place!
Born in the 80's I love retro video games. I say old sprite graphics will never die. Hmmm Seoul should be on my bucket list. Hehe. I dont drink but man that sounds like a fun bar to visit.
You can get food to, it’s not that great tbh but you can get it
