5 Star Wars Games That Are Beyond SH!T! - Gaming Top 5 - Part 62.

There have been more than a few Star Wars games made, and some have been very questionable.

With EA's Battlefront II constantly making headlines with there blatant money grabs and fans fighting back, it has been a game that has been marked one of the worst Star Wars games in modern history. But there are far worse games than this hiding away that have sported the Star Wars brand.

Here are 5 Star Wars games that are beyond shit.

5 – The Force Unleashed II.

While the first unleashed game was an instant hit with fans and new comers to the franchise, the same could not be said about the sequel.
Visually the game is stunning and it runs very well on all the platforms it was available on. The problem came with both the story and how the game was put together. The first game took place between the episodes 3 and 4, in which your character is taken on by Darth Vader as a padawan, and he is trying to decide between the dark and light side of the force, ending with a dual between master and apprentice. The second game is supposed to continue this idea, but thanks to rushed development the story fell far short of what fans were expecting and the design of the environment felt very lazy, restrictive, linear and repetitive, and the fighting was also very repetitive.
The game was so bad, and did even worse at launch that the planned third instalment was cancelled soon after.

4 – Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.

I actually had this game and I finished it too, back on the old PS1, but looking back on it now, it was so, so, so bad.
The game was released to coincide with the release of the film back in 1999, and it was released on the PC and PlayStation. While the game on the surface is initially enjoyable as it closely follows the story of the film, which also includes a couple of scenes that never made it to the big screen, that is all it had going for it. Not to say that games back then were brilliant, but there were much better ones available than this. The level layouts were bland, the fighting mechanics were bland, the graphics were bland, there just really wasn't much about the game that would appeal to someone who isn't a die hard fan of the star wars franchise.
The game isn't terrible and I would love to play it again, but would I recommend anyone else plays it? no. its like every other video game that is based on a movie. Unless you like the movie you will not like the game.

3 – Star Wars Kinect.

If you ever wanted to know what a cash grab by corporate dicks looks like, look no further than this title.
Since the Wii and the Kinect were released and motion capture type gaming became a huge fad, star wars fans had been screaming out for a game where you could fight with light sabres using motion capture. What they got was just shit and probably the most disrespectful cash grab of them all. Everything about the game was utter trash and nearly unplayable. The fighting mechanics were just beyond terrible. The only way to truly realise just how bad the entire game is, is to see for yourself.
The guys behind the game just wanted to cash in on the hype of the kinetic back in the early 2010's before gamers realised just how shit it actually was. Just don't play it.

2 – Yoda Stories.

Why? Just Why does this even exist?
This game was released for the PC in 1997 and then ported over to the Gameboy colour in 1999, and the game is centred around Luke training with Yoda on Dagoba during the events of episode 5.
the game developers tried to do something unique with the game by having it mostly procedurally generated, but it just did not work out how they planned. You spend most of your time running around aimlessly, carrying out various tasks Yoda sets you to do. And that's it. There is literally no story to follow as you constantly do the same thing over and over and over and over...... there is no point to the game what so ever. You are constantly training for Yoda, and the training is you going off to solve boring puzzles and doing set tasks for Yoda. That's it.
While I can respect that the Gameboy version of the game has to be graphically limited, there is no reason at all for it to be as such for the PC, which makes the whole game all the more worse.

1 – Masters Of Teras Kasi.

Ever wondered what Teken or Virtua Fighter would look like if they had a star wars skin? Look no further my friends.
While fighting games like this were all the range back then, there were few that stood out and this was not one of them. Another example of the franchise trying to cash in and failing badly.
A Star Wars fighting game may seem like a good idea, but it has been tried before, they failed then and it failed with this one too. The entire game is just underwhelming, with graphics that were bad for the time, hit box issues where you could hit mid air and still make contact, and the character selection was poorly unbalanced.
If the game stuck to dualling it out with light sabres, then it could have been an OK game, but when you start making the Jedi, Bounty hunters, Sith and other random characters use kung fu... well when Boba Fett starts boxing and light sabres are reduced to clubs, the game is going to fail and be beyond shit in anyone's eyes.

Its a shame that such a well received franchise, and one that is also a household name around the world has made some incredibly questionable decisions. Its not like Lucas Arts or associated companies are short of a few dollars, so why they see the need to cash grab and rush games in the hopes that they will make some more cash, when they could take there time, think about what it is they are doing and make even more money, and as a side effect, make a game that we the fans could very well enjoy.
With the rising costs of game development in recent years, it only makes sense that they stop dicking around, but then again, they are all a bunch of corporate dicks.

Thanks for reading.
