Minecraft is a gaming phenomena and is one of the most modded games in history.

Despite the fact that the game isn't all that graphically impressive, it has yielded a huge following with some gamers making a living from showcasing the game and its mods online. What is impressive though is the shear awesomeness of some of the creations that have been made within the game.

So thanks to one of my kids who is forever playing the game, here is my pick for 5 of the best creations ever made in Minecraft.

5 – Game of Thrones – Dragonstone.

Game of Thrones is quite possibly, the best TV show ever. It has such a huge following and we are anxiously waiting for season 8 to start in late 2018.
this was built by TrixyBlox on YouTube, and he actually shows a full time laps video of the build. It is very detailed and bloody massive. Dragonstone is a very complicated building if you have seen it in the show and this looks almost identical in shape when compared to the show.

4 – Harry Potter - Hogwarts

Another castle recreation from an equally brilliant film franchise, Harry Potter.
This creation was made by Prof_artifex and is available for download for anyone wanting to explore or add to this art work.
He has faithfully recreated the entire Hogwarts castle including the great hall, the random staircases, the crooked bridge and even the chamber of secrets. It looks amazing and it absolutely massive, so big that the game engine struggles to render parts of the castle.

3 – GTA V – Entire Map.

Arguably the best selling game of all time and in itself a game that has been modded almost as much as Minecraft.
GTA V's Map is absolutely huge, its is massive. The actual game struggles to load objects in the distance, the Minecraft map struggles to load blocks at a fraction of that.
The detail that has gone into this is mind boggling, everything is included from the airport to power stations, train lines, secret army base, mount chilliad, grove street, bridges, streams, marina, beaches..... I could go on, just trust me, EVERYTHING is included in this mod and you defiantly need to download it and go check it out.

2 – Game of Thrones - Kings Landing.

Another Game of Thrones build but this time it is the main city, Kings Landing, home to over a million people.
Created by Westeros Craft, not only is the Red Keep very detailed, but it includes the throne room, the gardens, harbour, black dungeons and the quarters of hand of the king, but it also has the Sept of Baylor, and more homes, whore houses and blacksmiths than you could shake a stick at, even the underground caverns beneath the entire city too and the bloody Dragon Pit.
It looks amazing and almost a true replica from the show.

1 – Star Wars - Super Star Destroyer.

I know another Star Wars themed pick for number 1 again, but this time it is for a good reason.
Star wars is absolutely huge and is quite possibly the best film franchise of all time, and besides the death star being the most iconic ship/battle station, the Super Star Destroyer is right up there next to it and this build is almost like a full 1:1 scale.
It is phenomenally detailed on the outside and just like some of the maps in this list, the game can not render all the blocks in this build at one time. It even includes TIE fighter hangers among other larger hangers. prison levels, bridge, engine rooms and a whole lot more.
It is fantastic to look at and explore.

Personally I don't see the appeal of the game at all, but I do appreciate some of the outstanding work that goes into creations like the ones in this list. Think I should spend more time watching the kids play it, maybe it will grow on me.
